Quick question.
I reeeeaaaaally would like to know how do you pronounce Mavi?
I like the name Mavi pronnounced as MAH- VEE but I’m really concerned people will mispronounce it. What do you think ?
Thanks for helping me.
EDIT: What if I put a H, Like MAHVI. what do you think?
I’d go for [name_f]May[/name_f]-Vee first too because of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but agree with @regionlatbest that it wouldn’t be difficult to start using the right pronunciation after being corrected once!
I originally read it as MAH-vee but can totally see why some (or many) would pronounce it MAY-vee. Mahvi is a much more obvious spelling, but I personally prefer the look of Mavi.
Because it’s such an unusual name, I think you can kinda set the standard for whatever you want it to be, spelled as you like it, but just be prepared for some/many corrections along the way.
I think I’d instinctively say [name_f]May[/name_f]-vee, but as others have said, I’d have no trouble switching to Mah-vee if corrected! I prefer the Mavi spelling, although Mahvi would help clarify the pronunciation.
A horse I used to own was named [name_u]Maverick[/name_u], and he was Mavi for short. Mavi to me is a short a, as in apple. The addition of the H would make me lengthen the A (like “marv-ee”), although I don’t like the way it looks as much.
I would probably say Mav-ee, because of [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] and [name_u]Maverick[/name_u], but I would definitely change if corrected. Because of that, I like Mavi more.
I would say Mah-vee but only because I’m reading it the way I would as a Spanish speaking person. I’d probably read it as [name_f]May[/name_f]-vee in an [name_f]English[/name_f] situation
I’d pronounce it like [name_f]May[/name_f]-vee but if I were to be corrected I wouldn’t mispronounce it again. I like the spelling Mavi better though, Mahvi looks a little awkward IMO. It’s a really cool name!
