Name meaning

[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] [name_m]Mahlon[/name_m] [name_m]Taft[/name_m] is my full name. I became curious about the meaning of my name. [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] Scotish meaning dark steam or water. [name_m]Mahlon[/name_m] Hebrew meaning sickness. [name_m]Taft[/name_m] Old [name_f]English[/name_f] meaning wooded area or forest land owner.
[name_u]Dark[/name_u] water of sickness near a forest? Some name…
Any thoughts or other interpretations?

Could you interpret it as dark stream in the forest that heals sickness? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Taft[/name_m] can also mean homestead, so maybe, a home for the sick by the water - like a place of healing?

Yes, definitely swap out sick for healing, giving healing dark water by the homestead. I also found [name_m]Mahlon[/name_m] listed as meaning mild, so you could be Mild stream by the homestead or wooded area - very poetic!

The meaning of my whole name would be something like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] at Shelf Ledge Settlement or something like that!

On sickness and biblical connotations - those who do not stay on earth long are considered blessed, as they proceed to the afterlife more quickly. So if you want to take account of the literal meaning of biblical origins, that does not need to be negative either. [name_u]Dark[/name_u] water stream-blessed-wooded land owner, is pretty awesome. But please don’t let name meanings bother you. There are a lot of great and popular names with odd or unfortunate meanings, see [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_u]Gideon[/name_u] for examples!
