So I’m looking for some honest feedback. Hubby thought this was an absolutley terrible name to give a baby - reminds him of the old lady across the street when he was growing up. I think it’s sweet and reminded him that the babies of today won’t necessarily know old ladies by that name. At one point we had seriously considered using the name [name]Grace[/name] (our girl name for one of our boys) but shyed away after I met a ton of Graces. BTW, my other kids are P@ul, Cl@re, M@rk, and K@th@rine. We aren’t expecting yet but hope to be soon. Our last name is Tys0n. (As a sidenote my family tree includes an ancestor name [name]Mercy[/name].)
Oh, and if you think [name]Mercy[/name] is as great as I do. I’ll take mn suggestions.
This name hasn’t ranked since the 19th century, and wasn’t common then. Most of the younger generation will never have met a [name]Mercy[/name].
It’s interesting that only a few of the virtues have survived. Some have been gone so long most people wouldn’t realize they were ever names. [name]Mercy[/name] falls in between.
I will always encourage this one. It can go with almost any middle, except another word name. It’s sufficiently unusual that you don’t have to worry about adding an especially unusual middle, though I still wouldn’t use a “filler” middle like [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Alice[/name]. I might favor a longer middle.
