As the title implies, I am not a mother to be, but rather a writer.
For over a year I have been trying to come up with a fitting name for a character of mine and cannot stick with anything. No matter how many times I try to settle on one name, I later abandon it after concluding it’s no good.
At this point, I think I’m trying too hard, and no name I choose will ever be “good enough”.
My thoughts are that I will describe my character, and if a name comes to mind, perhaps you could suggest it? I should also note that her last name is relatively set in stone as “[name_m]Drake[/name_m]”. So if the first name flowed well with that, that would be awesome.
Alright. Here goes:
Her age is set around her young adult years. She has a loud laugh, and is not a morning person, tending to amble about like a zombie for a while after first waking up. She is an animal lover and nature lover, has a deep fascination with magic, magical beings, fantasy and the like. She is spiritual with an adventurous soul. Clumsy at times, occasionally air headed, but not unintelligent (quite the opposite in fact; she’s very observant). She is highly empathetic and feels a great desire to help others. A huge daydreamer, her head is often in the clouds, constantly dreaming up ways to improve herself and the world around her. She is strong willed, stubborn, passionate, intuitive, kind, open-minded, gentle and caring. She has a broad sense of humor and laughs easily, loving when she can make others do the same. Her eyes are blue, hair color still undetermined but at the moment I’ve settled on brown.
[name_m]Reading[/name_m] that, it sounds like a cliche archetypal heroine. Makes me cringe a little.
Regardless, I’m primarily looking for a name that either conjures a feeling of whimsy or magic, or sounds somewhat ethereal. Or, something that effectively plays off any of her dominant traits (strength, fun loving, nature lover, etc).
Any suggestions are highly appreciated. I’m at my wit’s end on this one.
My only restrictions are to try to avoid more “plain” or “common” sounding names, and names popularized by other series or celebrities (to avoid association). Other than that, I want to refrain from influencing suggestions as much as I can. Pretty much anything goes!
Thank you in advance!
