I am almost 18 weeks and I like every name on my list but nothing grabs me as the perfect one. I am desperate for some new ideas so I wont put my current list here… my children are [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] and I guess our style in more Modern Classic. I’d prefer to stay out of the top ten but anything else is ok. So many of my favorites seem to continue to get popular I fear it’s a losing battle.
We are not finding out the sex so we need names for both and would love any ideas to go with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]. Please help!!!
Single syllable
Girls
[name]Jane[/name] - I love [name]Jane[/name]. I think its classic yet streamlined.
[name]Faith[/name] - My favourite of the one-syllable virtue names, less popular than [name]Grace[/name] yet hardly weird.
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] - much more interesting as a first name than a middle name, where it tends to get lost.
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Jade[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name]
Boys
[name]Max[/name] - Reminds me a lot of [name]Jack[/name] in terms of classic now popular.
[name]Dean[/name]
[name]Joel[/name] - I won’t go through all the [name]Jude[/name], [name]Joel[/name], [name]James[/name] etc. J names in case you’re avoiding them but I do like [name]Joel[/name] a lot.
[name]Piers[/name] - A variant of [name]Peter[/name], not particularly common but not difficult.
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Bram[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Shane[/name]
Other names that are a bit longer but have a similar straightforward sound and classic image:
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Amy[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
And on the boys side
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Max[/name] and [name]Luke[/name] are my top names for a boy and I do love them with [name]Jack[/name]. [name]Love[/name] the suggestions of [name]Sam[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Shane[/name]
WDYT of [name]Sam[/name] on its own, I just don’t love [name]Samuel[/name].
I am thinking of [name]Henry[/name] as a middle name to honor my Great Grandmother [name]Henrietta[/name] since I have met about 5 [name]Henry[/name]'s under 4 in the last few months and dont want to use it as a FN.
For girls, [name]Ivy[/name] is gorgeous but I have a horrible association with it. I wish I could use [name]Ella[/name] but my mom had a dog with that name! I love [name]Anna[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] in addition to some of my favorites [name]Nora[/name], [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Kate[/name].
WDYT of [name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and calling her by both? Is it too southern? I live in NY but I have met a lot of [name]Grace[/name]'s lately and was thinking that was a way to use it and not be [name]Grace[/name] F her whole school life.
I don’t love [name]Samuel[/name] either but I love [name]Samson[/name]. I don’t hate [name]Sam[/name] on its own either but it doesn’t feel as solid as [name]Luke[/name] as far standalone.
[name]Sadie[/name] was traditionally a short form of [name]Sarah[/name]. [name]Sarah[/name] no longer seems to be super popular with young children but I don’t know if you’re ready to see it come back?
[name]Miles[/name] for a boy is nice.
I don’t mind [name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] but I don’t love it either, I know so many girls with the middle name [name]Grace[/name]. And [name]Anna[/name] means “grace” so it feels a bit [name]John[/name] [name]Johnson[/name] to me but I could be weird. On the flipside I’ve seen Graceann as one name before so obviously most people don’t mind that aspect.
[name]Jack[/name], [name]Claire[/name] & [name]Adelaide[/name]. [name]Adelaide[/name] is a form of [name]Alice[/name], which is very classic…
I really like the name [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Anna[/name], but [name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name], although I like both names, sounds like it is kind of common. I prefer:
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Kathryn[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Elyse[/name]
for boys: I like the pp’s ideas of [name]Max[/name] or [name]Luke[/name] or
[name]Jack[/name], [name]Claire[/name] & [name]Leo[/name]
or…
[name]William[/name] or [name]Liam[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Tom[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]David[/name]
I didn’t realize [name]Anna[/name] meant [name]Grace[/name], definitely would be weird. I do love [name]Grace[/name] as a fn it’s just a popularity issue.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Liam[/name] too, again I just have to decide how much the popularity bothers me. I don’t know any young [name]Liam[/name] though, met many young children named [name]Henry[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Alex[/name] and [name]James[/name] lately.
Finally had some time to really look at all your suggestions starting to really like [name]Elizabeth[/name] though I worry about all the nn’s. I am one of of the few berries that isn’t a fan of nn’s. Also love [name]Rose[/name] as a fn and [name]Annabel[/name] too.
My grandmother’s name is [name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] I love it. I also love [name]Rose[/name] (my mother’s name) with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Claire[/name].
[name]Just[/name] found out its a BOY so happy I only have to come up with one group of names now!
I really do like [name]Daniel[/name], but is it weird to have a [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name]…especially since DH’s favorite drink is [name]Jack[/name] and Coke?
Starting to also really like [name]William[/name] despite the popularity. Someone I work with has a [name]William[/name] though, trying to decide if it is too close.
