[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m writing a futuristic novel and I can’t ever find the perfect name for my main character. I posted a similar thread a few days ago, but I realized I wanted to change the appearance of my character, which could have an effect on the name.
My character is a fifteen-year-old girl that turns sixteen in a few months. She has long, curly light brown hair with natural blonde streaks. Her are are green with flecks of gold, which isn’t unusual in this society. She is of medium height, and has a slight build. She is extremely pretty. She is a really sweet person, and is loyal and selfless to a fault. She puts her family before everything else, and is very close to her sister, [name_f]Cambria[/name_f]. Though she is normally very nice, she is also extremely impatient, and sometimes even rude.
I’m looking for names that sound futuristic, but aren’t too out there. So far, I’ve considered:
[name_f]Kerris[/name_f] (like [name_m]Ferris[/name_m], but with a K)
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]
Calyx (this is one of the more futuristic names - I’m not sure if it sounds too weird?)

[name_u]Ember[/name_u] (This is another odd name, but I think it fits her appearance and personality)

Really like the name [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] for the sister.

[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]- This could work. It’s spunky and has always sounded a little tomboyish to me,
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]- I don’t see [name_u]Sage[/name_u] on this particular character.
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]- [name_f]Talia[/name_f] is a good one. I also like the [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]- Sounds very dystopian to me for some reason. I like it a lot.
Calyx- It sounds too masculine to me.
[name_f]Kimber[/name_f]- Never really liked this name.
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]- Fantastic.
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love it.

If the question is still hanging, all you have to do is post in the same thread saying something like ‘any other suggestions?’ and that will move it up the board.
[name_f]Kerris[/name_f]-I don’t like the sound of this one, and I don’t think it fits your character
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]-I know someone who is really annoying whose name is [name_u]Skylar[/name_u], so I’m kind of biased. But if I try to ignore the fact that I know someone with that name, I can see it fitting your character, although it’s not perfect.
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]-No. No real reason, but it just doesn’t fit the character.
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]-I really like this name and think it fits your character really well. It seems like almost a perfect fit.
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]-I think this is a little too harsh sounding for your character with the ‘K’ and ‘R’
Calyx-I don’t think it’s too futuristic, but I do think it doesn’t fit the character.
[name_f]Kimber[/name_f]-Sounds kind of strange. Consider [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u].
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]-Nickname for what? Or full name? I can see [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] or [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] kind of working for your character.
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]-I love this name and have used it for characters before. Consider the nickname [name_f]Em[/name_f].
I really think [name_u]Ember[/name_u] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f] (with my fav being [name_f]Talia[/name_f]) working, but if you don’t like those you can consider:
[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] (I love the name [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] and I think it would fit your character)
[name_f]Terra[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisa[/name_f]
I’d say a shorter name (two syllables, probably) that has softer consonants–Ts, Ls, Rs, that sort of thing. Good luck!
[name_u]Ember[/name_u] is perfect, but it doesn’t really fit with [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] so I’d recommend changing [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] to [name_f]Kerris[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Keira[/name_f], but I don’t see it fitting your character. [name_f]Talia[/name_f] could work, but I think it sounds a little to soft for her. I love [name_u]Ember[/name_u]! It sounds great, and it’s unique. Good luck!
