Seeking some sage advice from the creative brains on this site. We are having our first child, a son, and would like some feedback and ideas from people who are not related to us! Our last name is [name_m]Hill[/name_m]. We like some nature names but feel they end up sounding like a subdivision with our surname. So we are looking at some traditional names. Our ancestry is Scottish and Irish with a little Eastern European. Anyway here is our current list:

Malcolm seems to be rising to the top. Thanks for your suggested names. We had considered and really liked some of those: Ezra, Emmett, Ewan, Owen, Gideon, Calvin and moved on for one reason or another. Hiram is probably our next favorite, but we worry it sounds too stuffy or religious.
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would be my first pick, followed by [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. Actually I was not familiar with the name [name_m]Hiram[/name_m] before reading this post so I am not yet sure what to make of it. It strongly reminds me of the Arabic name Hicham/Hisham which is not bad in anyway just confusing somehow. It sounds like a great unexpected choice though.

Today we did a daycare tour. What are the odds (apparently higher than we thought) that our top names are there on the list of the eight infants being cared for there. [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and then our favorite girl name, [name_u]Sloan[/name_u]. Ugh. It is like going to a hidden picnic spot and finding other people already there.
I actually love [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Hill[/name_m]. It’s so British and sounds so smooth together.
