Hello Berries!
One more poll I’d like to get your opinion on. Our family is Portuguese-American and we are expecting a baby girl! We need help on the name.
My husband loves the name Sofia, but I don’t love how common the name is despite its beauty and the fact people in the US (where we live now) will spell it Sophia. Inês is the other name which we both like, but may have pronunciation issues in the US. Our older boys are named Tomás and Matias.
Thank you!

Definitely [name_f]Inês[/name_f]! I just think it’s a name with a lot more character than [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] – more unique, but easy to pronounce once explained, and it fits a lot better with her brothers’ names in my opinion! It’s a beautiful choice that stands out in a positive, stylish way.
I’m very partial to Sophia/Sofia because of a special girl to me in [name_m]Brazil[/name_m] with this name… but I much prefer [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] myself. For that reason I voted for Inês… I also super love her with your two boys! I like that all of them would have names ending in S.
[name_m]Tomás[/name_m], [name_m]Matias[/name_m], and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is lovely, too, though!
[name_f]Inês[/name_f] is pretty
[name_f]Inês[/name_f] is so gorgeous!
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] is so lovely!
I mean, [name_f]Ines[/name_f] wouldn’t have more of an issue than [name_m]Matias[/name_m], no? Both differ on the i pronunciation between the languages, so if neither one bothers you, it’s definitely the more interesting choice. And as a bonus, all kids would have the same S ending.
But just to be unhelpful, shout out to [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]. It was initial choice, as I think it fits the sound of [name_m]Tomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Matias[/name_m] better, maybe it’s the As. And hey, [name_m]Tomas[/name_m] is both also common in [name_f]English[/name_f] and spelled unconventionally for the US public.
The main thing is you both loving the name, which kinda sounds like you’re not sold on either?
/ I really love a good Portuguese [name_m]Tomás[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] has got nothing on it.

[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] has a wonderful meaning but it never captivated me.
[name_f]Inês[/name_f] is gorgeous! Simple, elegant, regal and sweet. I know a few girls named [name_f]Inês[/name_f] who moved to English-speaking countries and I believe they don’t have many issues with their name’s pronunciation. In the USA, in particular, I think [name_m]Blake[/name_m] [name_f]Lively[/name_f] and [name_m]Ryan[/name_m] Reynolds’ daughter [name_f]Inez[/name_f] (who was rumored to be Ines) also helped the name become more familiar. If [name_m]Tomás[/name_m] works where you live, I believe [name_f]Inês[/name_f] will shine as well!
I prefer [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] but both are gorgeous names and I think [name_f]Inês[/name_f] works really well with the names you picked for your sons as they all end in ‘s’
