The top lists in my area were vastly different than anything on the top of the social security list.
Isn’t what we’re all most concerned with when it comes to popularity is whether our child will have the same name as 12 other kids in kindergarten or constantly hearing our baby’s name in the grocery store?
Wow! Such a great website! Thanks for posting this! Out of the four hospitals in San [name]Diego[/name], I thought it would be interesting to list two. One is the Naval Medical Hospital (to see what the military mamas and papas are naming their kiddos), and the other is Scripps (just for comparative analysis). Anyhow:
Naval Medical Hospital (San [name]Diego[/name], [name]CA[/name]):
Girls:
This was very cool! I like to look at the top 100 for the states on SSA to help me see what’s going on at home, but this hospital list is totally cool. We have interesting tastes.
[name]Autumn[/name] – Wow. [name]Just[/name] wow. More babies named [name]Autumn[/name]? Weird.
[name]Chloe[/name] – Been hearing this a lot.
[name]Alexis[/name] – Are we not getting tired of this yet?
[name]Allison[/name]
[name]Jenna[/name] – My cousin just named his baby this.
[name]Josie[/name] – I have an 11 year old niece named this, and have only met 1 other.
[name]Madison[/name]
[name]Emma[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] – Know a couple, know a few middle names, know a lot of people where it was on their short list but not chosen
[name]Austin[/name] – I’m surprised it’s this high, but not that it’s on the list.
[name]Jackson[/name] – I know 80 million of these, and lots more where it was on people’s short list
[name]Mason[/name]
[name]Brayden[/name] – Everywhere!
[name]James[/name]
[name]Jesse[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name]
We have another small catholic hospital in town. They don’t do as much OB because they don’t have a NICU (and being catholic don’t do tubals after, so I know lots of people that go there for early babies, but not their last one.) So the numbers will be kinda skewed due to small sample size.
[name]Eden[/name] – Wow! I only know one [name]IRL[/name], and it’s her middle name ([name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Eden[/name], but she goes by [name]Edie[/name])
[name]Madison[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Ava[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Josie[/name]
[name]Laila[/name] – Interesting to see it spelled this way. We just had a [name]Layla[/name] born to one of our friends.
Breslyn
[name]Carleigh[/name] – Wow! It’s a small hospital, so top 10 would be skewed, but [name]Carleigh[/name] spelling?
[name]Emelia[/name] – Again, wow. I know several baby Amelias, but…
That is a fun list to look at but you do have to realize its misleading for small hospitals. My daughter [name]Eliza[/name] was born at a small county hospital in [name]September[/name] and her name was listed as top ten for over a month even though I’m 99% sure she’s the only [name]Eliza[/name] born there in months if not ever!!! That’s probably why you see names like [name]Carleigh[/name]. Also the list only reflects names of babies who get their photo done…not all babies born at a given hospital.

4.[name]James[/name]
5.[name]Jordan[/name]
6.[name]Dominic[/name]- My sister chose [name]Dominic[/name] 6 years ago and the popularity in our state has been rising ever since. He is the only [name]Dominic[/name] in his class though.
7.[name]Jose[/name]
8.[name]Nathan[/name]
9.[name]Bryson[/name]
10.[name]Daniel[/name]
And where we will be moving too in [name]May[/name]:
1.[name]Ava[/name]
2.[name]Olivia[/name]
3.[name]Maci[/name]
4.[name]Isabella[/name]
5.[name]Sophia[/name]
6.[name]Addison[/name]
7.[name]Madison[/name]
8.[name]Molly[/name]
9.[name]Khloe[/name]
10.[name]Zoey[/name]
the only one I am really surprised at is [name]Melissa[/name], and the spelling of [name]Mya[/name]. Kind of shocked not to see [name]Maeve[/name] on the list too.
This website doesn’t have hospitals in US territories, so I looked up the hospital in [name]Florida[/name] where my oldest child was born. This is a good-sized hospital, and I was really surprised by the “unique” spelling of the girls names. Only one name on this list is on the SS top 10 names list ([name]Noah[/name]).
1.[name]Gabriella[/name]
2.[name]Gabriela[/name]
3.[name]Ryleigh[/name]
4.[name]Aubrie[/name]
5.[name]Averi[/name]
6.[name]Kinley[/name]
7.[name]Madeleine[/name]
8.[name]Ah[/name]'Rielle (Never seen this spelling before…don’t care for it at all)
9.Brealin
10.[name]Holiday[/name] (seriously??)
Very cool. The list looks similar to the national ss, with a few exceptions ([name]Anthony[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], [name]Mia[/name]). Not surprising to me since I know there is a large Italian American community here.
I have 8 large hospitals near me, and their lists are all very different! The SSAs popularity by state feature seems to ring the most true for what I have found in day-to-day life.
I am surprised [name]Avery[/name] is so high – and that [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name] aren’t on there (I hear those names the most!) I hear [name]Ava[/name], [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] all the time, so that isn’t a surprise. But [name]Ashley[/name]? That one is surprising to me.
For the boys I am a little surprised that [name]Easton[/name] is so high on the list. And [name]Colton[/name]! I have never met a [name]Colton[/name] in my life.
