At the same time I think that [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] is one of the prettiest names in the world and that it sounds like callous toe
i don’t think it sounds like callous toe but this is very funny and quite relatable
Some word names for children, imo, are guilty pleasures. Like, what if [name_u]Poet[/name_u] grows up hating poetry?
Summary
Oof, my name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] because my parents love gardening, but they pushed the interest so hard on me as a child that I hated gardening until recently. Luckily, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is an established name anyway, so I was able to separate it from that. Plus, although I don’t like gardening, I do still like flowers. I just don’t want to grow them myself lol.
I know somebody whose name is a variant of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] who’s literally allergic to roses lol
I would use the middle name [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] in a second. Like I am 100% set on it for a future daughter.
…I am allergic to lavender
names just shouldn’t be close to each other.
that’s it.
i won’t have a lily and a lucy together one day, but how could one expect me to choose? lenora and flora, so pretty, but never together. my darling daniel and sweet nathaniel— why must you rhyme!?
and darling jessica, why must you feel so dated?
frederick and george i would never actually use together. same with lucy and edmund.
how must one expect a future me to name children when they are all so similar!
My mom feels your pain on that one. I have an a brother named N@than, and my mom seriously considered naming me Jonathan if I was a boy…
This! [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]? [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] & [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]? [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] & [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]? [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] & [name_u]Basil[/name_u] (who the Berries have convinced me might maybe probably be too similar )? It can never be
I agree. I’d have had a Barnabas and a Baltasar if only it wasn’t… impossible
that’s how I feel with caspian & casimir - I can’t have both but they’re both so lovely
Currently crushing on two (very obviously) US presidential surnames but do not want the association of either president
I think I’ve officially lost it when it comes to names.
it’s just NAMES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL AND FULL OF LIFE!!
even thinking about names in general gives me a physical reaction at this point. I can feel my heart warm up as I’m writing this
giving something a name (which I do for literally everything) feels like touching souls in a way. And when everything has a name that’s close to your heart, meeting anything feels like reuiniting with an old friend. [name_f]Every[/name_f] river is named Soundarya now, and it feels as if I’ve known them all forever.
another part of this descent into name insanity is that, to me, there are literally no qualifications for what counts as a name anymore. “Shachar” as a nickname for “Singing-In-A-Home-At-Dawn” as a nickname for [name_u]David[/name_u] is absolutely perfect.
who gave names the right to hold this much love and meaning, y’know??
What is a Soundarya mean, though
My brother wants to name his next dog Jet because he has one dog named Benny…and he knows I want to name my son Jet, he just likes to aggravate me. Anyway I hope he actually doesn’t follow through with that name. God. : just imagine your sibling stealing your dream baby name for their pet.
I felt like that when my brother named his dog Fyodor He had no idea I’d potentially consider it for a child though, and I didn’t have my heart set on Fyodor. I was just mildly annoyed.
if it helps, i actually know sisters named lily and lucy, so i don’t actually think they’re unusable together!
Soundarya is Sanskrit for beauty!!
I wish you could see the future, about how many kids you will have…
because how will I choose between [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] for my daughter one day if I know that may be my only one? and [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], and [name_u]Henry[/name_u] for boys? How must one decide if a child may be the only one!
And slightly-related rant, that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is close to overtaking [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] based on the fact that I can’t find any [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] nicknames I like.
