[name_m]Just[/name_m] looking for some thoughts about the spelling of my boys name… it’s [name_m]Louis[/name_m] pronounced loo-ee but I am finding that some people pronounce it loo-is. I always assumed loo-is was spelt [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. But this is not the case.
I love it spelt [name_m]Louis[/name_m], but don’t want a lifetime for me & him correcting people so should I spell it the alternative way [name_m]Louie[/name_m] (which I’m not as keen on).
Please help me decide. Thank you in advance
I think this is one of those names where you are just going to have to resolve to be ok with correcting people’s pronunciation, or look for a different name. The “[name_m]Louie[/name_m]” spelling would certainly make it clear, but I agree it has a different vibe than [name_m]Louis[/name_m]. If you love [name_m]Louis[/name_m] enough that you don’t mind having to tell people “Actually, it’s loo-ee,” then I would definitely go ahead and use it. If you will be annoyed every time you have to explain, then I would probably search for another choice.
I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as loo-is. It is my neighbour’s name and he pronounces it as you desire loo-ee. I have a [name_m]Luis[/name_m] in the family. Although you are not fond of the [name_m]Louie[/name_m] spelling I think it would be pronounced as you desire.
I love the name [name_m]Louis[/name_m] spelled and pronounced that way. I think you should spell it how you want. People will learn how to pronounce it.
Your right, I’m going to spell it how I like it & you only have to tell someone once if they pronounce it wrong. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] definitely looks classier. Thanks all.
