Name suggestions, please?!

Hubby and I had chosen [name_f]Isla[/name_f] for our girl on the way.

Everyone is saying iz-la or ee-sla. Some of them undoubtedly on purpose, but I digress. I have pronounced it for everyone who had any questions or issues and that wasn’t a big deal. Then I found out it is super popular overseas, meaning it will probably start to take on a higher ranking here. I can get over that, considering I have an [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] and those are pretty popular. But I have to love the name enough.

Then it was pointed out it was one letter off from Islam. Which in itself is not a big issue but many people carry a slight negative impression due to news coverage, radicals (who don’t represent a majority by far but are the only ones who get attention lately), etc.

Then it was pointed out it is similar to my youngest son’s name, which is [name_m]Silas[/name_m].

THEN hubby’s friend just had a baby and named her [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

I am really, REALLY starting to not be able to look past all of these things.

I love the way it sounds but I don’t want to spell it phonetically like [name_f]Ilah[/name_f]. I can happily get on board with [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], even though it’s my cousin’s name (assuming she didn’t mind.) I would use [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] in a heartbeat but one of my best friends did. I like [name_f]Bella[/name_f] but not enough to commit to it. I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but I keep thinking of cell phone commercials (add a line for only $9.99!) or the nickname [name_f]Addy[/name_f], which is far too prominent in this area to risk having a fifth [name_f]Addy[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddy[/name_f] in a small class.

[name_m]Long[/name_m] story short, I need suggestions. I like classic names that don’t lend themselves to nicknames, unless there’s a rare chance I really like the nickname. I feel like I only see the same few names over and over again. I love my daughter [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]'s first name, so anything that “feels like” [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. What do you think of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] as sisters?

Help! haha

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are just lovely for sisters, but I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is just as close to [name_m]Silas[/name_m] as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is. Some suggestions are:

[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

Out of all of your concerns, the thing that strikes me as the most bothersome is that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sound too similar.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] fits great, but like pp said, it still shares that strong I sound with [name_m]Silas[/name_m]…

[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
