I’m trying to expand my lists, especially the boys’, but you can suggest some girls’ names too.
What names do you think I’d like based on my signature and the rest of the names in this post?
I’d like to stay away from anything in the top 200 and don’t care for “gender neutral” or boys’ names for girls or obviously trendy/tryndee names for either gender.
In addition to what I have in my signature, I like:
Girls -
[name_f]Althea[/name_f]/[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - I’m just worried that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is gonna get into the top 200 fast.
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Anja[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], but it’s getting too common now so I’m thinking [name_f]Annika[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Anja[/name_f].
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] - Pronunciation might trip people up. This site says it’s An-THEE-ah, but I’ve heard An-[name_u]TAY[/name_u]-ah too.
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Calista[/name_f]/[name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Chiara[/name_f] (key-AR-ah)
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]/[name_f]Dalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Danica[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Erica[/name_f]/[name_f]Erika[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f] - One of the few place names I don’t mind.
[name_f]Georgianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Giovanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Hana[/name_f]
[name_f]Kalila[/name_f]
[name_f]Kimber[/name_f] - This one has been growing on me thanks to my obsession with the [name_u]Jem[/name_u] series from the 80’s. Only issue: I know a [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u] and she goes by the obvious nickname for [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u]/[name_f]Kimber[/name_f], [name_u]Kim[/name_u].
[name_f]Kira[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Michaela[/name_f]
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]/[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Samara[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Viviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f]
Boys -
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - Only as a MN
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
Andrejs (pronounced like the Spanish [name_m]Andres[/name_m]) - Latvian form of [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]/[name_u]Andre[/name_u]. One of my favorite boys’ names that I couldn’t fit into my signature with the character limit.
[name_m]Clarence[/name_m]
[name_m]Constantin[/name_m]/[name_u]Konstantin[/name_u]/[name_u]Constantine[/name_u] - MN only.
[name_m]Damon[/name_m]
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Martin[/name_m]
[name_m]Matias[/name_m]/[name_m]Mattias[/name_m]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
I like:
[name_m]Gordon[/name_m] - maybe better as a middle though.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]/[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] is okay. I’d be more likely to use it in the middle spot.
[name_u]Love[/name_u]:
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] - I may be able to overlook the fact that this one is still in the top 200, since it doesn’t seem to be as common in my state (FL) or my county, and it is at #176 nationally.
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] - It’s been growing on me.
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] - Fits with the Latvian part of my heritage.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - I just don’t like how popular it’s getting. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is great too.
[name_m]Victor[/name_m] - A little too popular, but might be able to overlook it. Thankfully not super common where I live.
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - My only issue is that I have a cousin named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f].
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] - Reminds me of CSI: [name_f]Miami[/name_f] and the name has been growing on me.
[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] - I love Russian names and it’s a great way of honoring my cousin [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] without being common.
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m] - Another one I could possibly overlook the popularity of.
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m], [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], [name_m]Warren[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] are okay. [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] is in the top 100 in [name_f]Florida[/name_f] though, so is [name_m]Asher[/name_m].
Boys -
[name_m]Anton[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one for a boy. I just hate that it’s getting popular for girls.
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
Girls -
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] - [name_f]May[/name_f] be mistaken for [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] or [name_f]Alexia[/name_f], but I really love this one.
[name_f]Audra[/name_f] - It’s growing on me. Nice alternative to the gorgeous but too popular [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].
[name_f]Aya[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - Beautiful alternatives for [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] - I prefer the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling, but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is nice.
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
