The next student is Polish and transferred to the university of Wrocław for her senior year, after years and years of her aunt nagging her to come visit. [name_m]Said[/name_m] aunt has been living in the US for over seventeen years , but stayed very well-connected to her family , mainly through social-media frequently used by [name_f]Gen[/name_f] X like Facebook or WhatsApp. Let’s also not forget about letters she used to write all the time before the Internet era!
The student has a very hard time adjusting to American culture and most importantly the huge portions that American cuisine typically offers - while Polish cuisine is fatty and meat-rich, the frequency of cooking meals at home allows everyone to pick their own portion sizes. To this girl even small American portions seem huge and she is quite paranoid about putting on weight, an anxiety that has been lessened through signing up for the university softball team and installing MyFitnessPal.
With looks being a large part of her life, she participated in Polish beauty paegents, mainly within her own region, and managed to come in second place once back when she was eighteen. She is the object of [name_f]Desirae[/name_f] 's affections and [name_f]Desirae[/name_f] tries to come up to her and show her around as much as she can, even if the girl remains very shy and non-talkative most of the time. With her hourglass figure , long legs and creative use of bobby pins - she typically uses several of them for her updos instaed of a standard hair tie - she barely remains unnoticed, no matter how hard she tries to be so by wearing rather mundane , neutral colours and trying to undermine her body shape with oversized sweaters. The desire to remain invisible comes from her lack of confidence in [name_f]English[/name_f] despite an offical certification confirming high fluency, as well as the fact her aunt is rather conservative and so is her whole family. She is afraid that she may seem ignorant to her new friends from a rather progressive environment, no matter how many hours she spends trying to educate herself by reading online about US social climate.
She recently opened up more due to the softball team , where she became friendly with [name_u]Kiran[/name_u] Sharma’s sister. She also became a rather active member of the local Polish diaspora where she became close with [name_f]Edyta[/name_f] Sigurđardóttir’s family, even learning some Icelandic in the process! She often cooks pierogi, a type of Polish dumplings, with the houswives who are also active there. She doesn’t have quite have the courage to bring them to her student flat yet, as she’s sure she’d never beat [name_f]Ana[/name_f] and her delicious Venezuelan treats.
She stays in touch with her best friend from Wrocław, [name_f]Ida[/name_f] through Skype and Messanger App. She also draws a lot and is a perfectionist when animating her drawings with a computer program. She likes and takes inspiration from shows popular in the 00s era of Cartoon Network and her favourite is Teen Titans , especially the rather dark and troubled but ultimately loyal character [name_u]Raven[/name_u].

The next student originally comes from the Tamil-speaking part of Sri Lanka. He was born without his right arm due to problems that occured in the womb during his mom’s pregnancy, which was high risk. He was also born prematurely via C-section and his parents refuse to talk about his early childhood at all. When he was two and a half years old his parents decided to apply for a visa to be able to move to his maternal aunt’s house. The aunt , Doita , has always gone exclusively by " Dot " ever since moving to the US. After having a brief acting career in the nineties , starring mainly in Indie movies, she decided to place her artistic drive into renovating a Victorian home and making a cafe out of it, called “Dot’s spot”. Spending a lot of time in that family-friendly space and helping his aunt clean, this student decided to join this class in order to handle tiny customers with better patience and less awkardness - especially considering that he often didn’t know what to say to them when asked about his disability. Another reason was wanting to be closer to Zaya and see her more often , although he only ever admitted it to Dot and blushed like crazy during it.
Movies are the main hobby of this student , as she always felt like throwing trivia about Bollywood actors and actresses at people are a nice way of directing attention away from his missing limb. He also really enjoys the musical aspect of many Bollywood movies and thinks that it’s a fun way of connecting to his culture. Alexis , his best friend, loves them too. They, however , tend to argue often about which ones are better - B-tier zombie ones or Indian masala ones. He also bonds with Alexis over the close relationship with siblings - this guy’s sister has always supported him and unlike his parents was open to talk about feelings and insecurities instead of telling him to just “suck it up” . Now that she studies physical therapy at university and wants to go on to work with people born without limbs or amputees, this students feels honored to have inspired her to choose such an important and selfless career path.
At only 5’4 , this guy is often called “shortie” by peers. His style is pretty casual. you’ll see him wearing oversized shirts with the logo of his sister’s university softball team, a baseball cap and baggy trousers. Once he tried to emulate Bollywood actor Sharukh Khan by wearing sunglasses, a white shirt with one open button and using gel on his hair. It did go over pretty well , but only in the jokes and laughing departament. He promised himself to not experiment with style anymore, but recently began considering getting an ashley piercing and growing his hair out. However, his aunt and sister think it’s a terrible idea , while Alexis encourages him to go ahead. The 17 year old doesn’t really know what to do

The next student isn’t the most fond of geography as a subject, but she loves being taught by Mrs. Fereday and Miss O’Neil. Her dad’s a pretty well-known musician - belonging to an Icelandic metal band - and she shares his music tastes, currently being obsessed with Avantasia. Both her parents were born in Europe - her dad being from [name_f]Iceland[/name_f], her mom Poland - and as she’s gotten older, she’s embraced these cultures. She’s started to become best friends with Rosie Eleanor Webster from Mr. Bradley’s English class - formerly having been somewhat of a loner thanks to feeling insecure about her dad’s status, and having no judgment about the financial status of Rosie’s family. As an only child, she’s gotten good at keeping herself busy - as her mom has a busy schedule running her own literary editing company - and alongside playing the guitar, she enjoys playing tennis and chess, as well as trying to train the rambunctious family dog: Meringue, a Keeshond. She recently got permission to dye her bobbed hair dark magenta - which she’s very proud of - and resembles her mother strongly, sharing the same dark grey eyes and oval shaped face. Fitting with her parentage, she dresses in a mix of gothic and punk fashion - with long skirts being her favourite clothing items and her cousins teaching her how to paint spiderweb designs on her nails.
