Name the class (twist)

Trigonometry | St. Paul’s High School (27 students: 12th Grade, age 17-18)
Teacher: Jeanine Rose “Jeanie” Aamodt / Dr. Aamodt

  1. Baskara Roberto Irawan-Perez
  2. Joseph August Miller
  3. Tatum ’ Tate ’ Georgina Hewley
  4. Haylee Marie Galuzio

This next student is a brooding blonde girl. She comes from an upper middle class family whom she does not get along with at all. She has three sisters who are all paper thin in comparison to her. She is the eldest of her sisters, which she finds embarrassing seeing as they all are more well-liked by their peers. This student does not get violent about her jealousy, however. Her father is a doctor and her mother is a nurse. They met in med school. This student cannot stand her parents as they constantly pester her to lose weight and get a boyfriend.

She has absolutely no interest in dating at all and is considering the fact that she could be aromantic-asexual. She often asks Haylee questions about her ongoing identity crisis. Haylee is always happy to help but can sometimes get overwhelmed by this student’s apparent anxious feelings about this.

She is almost always seen in a sweater, usually turtlenecks, with long khaki pants. Her choice of footwear is Doc Martens. She feels guilty about her parents’ wealth but is secretly glad that she is able to afford things like multiple pairs of Doc Martens. Her best friend grew up in extreme poverty and has greatly shaped this student’s worldview.

Her favorite musician is Elliott Smith. She enjoys watching the show Bojack Horseman and heavily relates to Diane. Her happiest moment of the year was being able to attend a Phoebe Bridgers concert- her first concert since the beginning of the pandemic. Some may see this student as a bit pretentious, but she genuinely enjoys the things she likes. She has very high empathy.

The next girl is 5’7. Her curly light blonde hair is often dyed pink or lavender, and she has blue eyes. She prefers colorful denim jeans and loose, blouse-y tops, favoring a bit of a modern pixie/hippie aesthetic. Her nose is pierced, and she got a tattoo of a faery on her shoulder for her 18th birthday. She drives an old black VW Rabbit, with tons of bumper stickers on it expressing political ideas.

Her parents are apolitical, feeling as though it’s nobody’s business how they live their lives, and not their business how others live either. This student has seen the fault of that first hand through her perception of her parents’ callousness. She has always had friends that came from different socioeconomic statuses, but her parents would pretend that everyone was all the same. As a result, she is passionate about intersectionality, particularly with regards to feminism. She finds Haylee fascinating to talk to, but worries that Haylee will feel she’s being condescending. She looks up to Dr. Aamodt, because she feels like she stands for something, unlike her parents. However, she also is dealing with a learning disability that makes Trig all the more difficult.

She is the 3rd of 5 kids, and the one who is the most outspoken, even if that ‘speaking’ isn’t vocal. It’s not that she’s confrontational. She’s always been different, and couldn’t be the same if she tried.

The next student is very much a member of the In Crowd, belonging to the cheer squad, attending numerous parties and being considered socially enviable by many of her peers. What even Dr. Aamodt didn’t realise at first is she’s also a budding machete, who’s gift for the subject is hidden behind the social image she’s worked hard to cultivate; second place is her dream to become an aerospace engineer. Life hasn’t always been picture perfect for her though - in her early teens she was severely bulimic, and actually had to stay in an eating disorder clinic when her parents realised she’d spiralled completely into a destructive cycle; something that’s made her a more approachable popular kid, who lacks a superiority complex and has a very compassionate nature. She herself was bullied a lot growing up in the Los Angeles suburb she lived in until the age of 12, being a chubby kid who was unfairly compared to her tall, sporty brothers - Colton, now 21, who’s attending university in Albequerque; and Trent, now 26, who works as a pro photographer - and the taunting is what led to her eating disorder. Sometimes she deliberates approaching Kierra - who’s sisters she’s familiar with, as one’s a cheerleader alongside her - but doesn’t know how the other girl might react to this, as sometimes her advice is taken as criticism on account of where she stands in social hierarchy terms.

Having overcome her disorder, she’s now a healthy person with an athletic build for 5’4", and often sitting in awkward positions that are comfy to only her on account of flexibility. Her aesthetic is preppy - argyle cardigans; matching skirt and jacket sets; sleeveless woollen vests; Peter Pan collared dresses; knee high socks and soft blouses - but she prefers a darker colour scheme, mostly navy blue, dusky rose pink and moss green; finding they compliment her lightly tanned complexion nicely. Her dad’s Honduran and she not only inherited his complexion, but also his very thick oakwood coloured hair, which is cut at the mid point of her back and usually tied up or pushed back with an Alice band; whereas her eyes are the soft green of her mom’s. Alongside her lobes, she has her right anti-tragus and conch pierced, as well as her left ears rook - almost always wearing neat little studs. She loves long coats, faux leather gloves and berets too, always wanting to feel put together and sophisticated.

Cheerleading is what she attributes to helping her overcome her bulimia, finding confidence and friends through the sport which she’d always longed for. To the surprise of no-one she’s considered a likely winner of the upcoming homecoming queen title, more so than some of her associates thanks to being genuinely liked (although more cynical students are wary, as what cheerleader could be that nice?). She’s closer with her brothers now too, having formerly kept things from them as she didn’t want to stress them out; but the recovery period introduced her to a therapist, Miranda, who encouraged her to be more open with her family. Trent’s the sibling she sees more as he’s only an hour’s bus ride away, but she speaks frequently with Colton over messenger or calls. Rollerskating is something she’s just started to try on Colton’s recommendation, and she already loves it, feeling it compliments her existing skills perfectly while testing them too. In most classes she prefers to just get on with her work - sometimes seeming very disconnected from this one on particular thanks to her natural gift - but when asked a question or intrigued by Dr. Aamodt’s lesson plan, she’s very talkative and engaging, showing off the charm that made her friends gravitate towards her initially. Like her mom, Aimee, she’s a very organised person too, and regularly helps her friends declutter their space - although never mistake her for a minimalist, she just knows how to keep her mountain of clothes neatly stacked!

This next student is a young man who would rather be anywhere but trig class- most of the time, he is. This student often skips school and has no motivation for any of his classes. However, he does not skip on account of just wanting to rebel. Despite his lack of motivation for academics, he has a lot of goals in life that he’d much rather spend his time pursuing.

His mother died when he was 10 years old being left in the hands of his unstable and abusive father. His father, Bill, has substance abuse issues and always has a new girlfriend. One of his girlfriends gave birth to this students younger sister who is now 8 years old. This student often will skip school to stay home and be a caretaker for his sister and shield her from their father’s tendencies. The reason this girl’s mother does not want to care for her is unknown.

When not caring for his sister, this student works on polishing his skills as a music producer. He also enjoys skateboarding and drawing portraits. His closest friend is his cousin on his mom’s side, Kierra. Kierra will occasionally motivate him to come to class with her and lately he’s been attending more lessons. Dr. Aamodt notices he has been attending class more and has been trying to make his days easier as Kierra has informed her on what has been going on in his home life. Dr. Aamodt can see this student is struggling and has offered to get him in school counseling, which he has accepted. He has medium brown eyes and dirty blonde hair which goes down to his shoulders. His hair is quite wavy. He stands quite tall at 6’2 and has a slim build.

The next student is a geeky guy who sits next to Joseph in class. He is the eldest of the eight Leonard kids and the only older sibling of Samantha Leonard. He developed a keen interest in math as a young kid , having loved solving riddles of that nature in educational magazines for preschoolers. He finds trigonometry incredibly easy and intuitive to learn , but realises he does not quite have the natural talent of explaining things well, for which he admires Haylee in spite of being terrified of her rebellious nature to some extend.

He enjoys stereotypically nerdy interests like video games , comic and fantasy books , and collecting figurines from anime. He has a large group of on-line friends on Discord, several of whom he has known for 4+ years now. One of those friends - Trevor - became close to him enough that they met in real life earlier this year and attended an anime convention together, albeit this guy wasn’t cosplaying like Trevor was - arguing it would make him feel silly.

This student enjoys his thick glasses in large dark green frames and military cut light brown hair. He stands at 6’ tall which sometimes prompts Joseph to jokingly comment about being jealous. In spite of being only 18 he already has facial hair that he is proud of and regurarly goes with it to the local barber, thinking it makes him look mature. Besides his favourite anime and Studio Ghibli themed T-shirts he doesn’t put much value on clothing items, wearing whatever is comfortable and appropriate for the weather - the latter trait being very important to him because he hates wind and snow. Despite enjoying being the “smart eldest brother” that the remaining 7 kids treat as an authority figure - he cannot wait to break away from the full house that makes him feel kind of trapped and having his very own space in the college dorm. He trusts that his younger siblings will take care of his huge anime figurine collection and have a lot of fun while using them as toys.

Samantha ’ Sam ’ Christine Leonard was made by yours truly

Summary

The next student is a 10th grader and cannot wait to turn 16 to have a driver’s license and a car. She is a member of a big family. She is the second oldest of eight children. Her mother and Virginia Newman , the mom of the Newman family , often argue whose kids are the craziest and most difficult to take care of - albeit in an incredibly friendly manner.

This student loves music , which helped her build a sense of personal identity and avoid being recognised only as “one of the girls from the big family”. She plays bass guitar as well as acoustic guitar. She joined High Velocity after bumping into an Instagram post where the members were looking for a bassist and became friends with Savannah Bonham right away. She also became quite close with Thorn Newman because of the warm friendship between their moms.

Her favourite hobby in the whole entire world is camping. There is nothing more exciting for her than spending a week or two in the woods, sleeping in a tent and sitting with all of her family around a campfire - especially because she gets to tell horror stories every evening with a torch in hand , eat warm marshmallows or grab her guitar and sing!

Not surprisignly, her favourite aesthetics is forestpunk - dark greens, browns and sometimes light blues dominate her wardrobe. You’ll almost always see her in baggy clothes with her auburn, wavy hair hidden behind a beanie. Her sister , who is younger than her by just 18 months and practically treats her like a twin, has a passion for jewelry, so she also wears different pendants made by her that hold a whole lot of sentimental value.

She is a firm believer that a dirty kid is a happy kid and never shies away from playing outside with the little ones on the playground, while also keeping an eye on them so that they do not get hurt. She encourages kids to be close to nature and is always happy to anwser their questions concerning animal or plant species, as her love of camping caused her to gain significant theoretical and practical knowledge about the natural world. Ms. Daskal very much appreciates her experience with lots of younger siblings, as well as patience that she has for the kids.

The next student is Ursula Surdrey’s boyfriend. His maternal grandparents are Hungarian, and his paternal grandparents are South African, with both of his parents immigrating here when they were elementary-school aged. His mom now works as a pediatric endocrinologist, while his dad is the concessions manager at the local baseball stadium.

He’s 5’9, with clear green eyes, pale skin that is somewhat acne prone, and messy, wavy fine blonde hair. He tends not to care too much about his grooming, other than wanting to smell nice. His older brother Tomasz used to give him a hard time about his smell when they were in junior high. They generally don’t speak much. He doesn’t speak to many people, to be honest, but does have friends and followers on his twitch account. His little sister is 12, and is much more social than him - he definitely knows he gives off that ‘weird older brother’ vibe, but tends not to want to work to change it. He’s closest to his mom, whose experience with teens, hormones, and moods, as well as her more serious nature, suits his own.

He tends to dress in vintage thriftware - old denim, but also slacks, ‘grandpa style’ clothing, including long cardigans (all the better if they have leather elbow patches), and prefers a fedora or a fisherman’s cap on when outside of school.

While math comes easy for him, it isn’t his passion, and he dreads being called on in class. He prefers texting Ursula on the sly, or at least doodling the animals they’ve seen together - sloths and black bears being his favorite to draw.

Ursula was brought to us by @kitkatcookie :)

The next student was basically raised as an only child, so she took this class in the hope it would help her connect more with her two year old sister, Marianna ‘Mari’. Both of girls adopted by their dad’s - Mari at a few weeks old, her just after her first birthday - and this means she’s particularly talented at communicating and bonding with the children who share this aspect of life. She’s always been honest with Ms. Daskal about the fact she wasn’t delighted to gain a sibling at fourteen: mostly fearing it would take time away from the time she enjoys spending with her parents, most notably she and her dad’s photography trips, where they set up prompts and challenges for one another; so she was surprised to quickly bond with Mari, once she actually joined the family. Her awareness that she isn’t the most natural with kids was a notable insecurity of her’s, until Ms. Daskal began emphasising that her awareness of this was a strength in itself, and while she encouraged this student, she never made her feel pressured or rushed. These experiences have caused the girl to consider becoming a teacher herself actually - having once admittedly had no interest in the profession - but now she feels working in a roll to support children with backgrounds deemed “less conventional” would be a meaningful and important role to take on. Her papa’s been exceptionally supportive of this, as he runs a local charity which helps combat homelessness within the LGBTQIA+ community specifically - alongside providing counselling and other forms of support - meaning he’s impressed by his daughters’ emphasis on an empathic vocation.

She has had some contact with her biological mother - Kellie - over the years too, but it’s been sporadic and further limited due to the continued drug problems Kellie’s faced. When this student was young, their meetings were actually stopped by social services due to Kellie promising she would take her daughter back into her custody and attempted to convince the students dad’s into allowing unauthorised overnight stays; something that still upsets this girl to this day, as her dad’s mean the world to her and she hates the idea of betraying them somehow. This means she can draw into herself sometimes when the memories are particularly pronounced, having been diagnosed with anxiety at thirteen, which she practices breathing exercises for and is allowed to step outside the classroom if it’s impacting her.

She’s 5’3" and has a top heavy figure, being a little stockier than many of her friends. With light blue eyes and hazel brown hair cut at shoulder length - usually with the edges flipped outwards with the help of some products - she’s got a lightly tanned complexion, knowing her biological father is Latino, but nothing else about him other than the fact he was out of the picture before Kellie learned she was pregnant. Her aesthetic is heavily influenced by Romantic Artistry, combined with princess and cloudcore for a very soft, feminine effect. Puffed sleeves and skirts are absolutely adored by her, alongside pairing ankle socks with her Mary-Jane’s or trusty pair of white, platform trainers; and anything depicting classical artwork is more than welcome too, including a gorgeous jacket she got for her recent sixteenth birthday depicting Aphrodite emerging from the pearl. She has double pierced earlobes, her daith in the right ear and anti-tragus in the left, but is uncertain about any facial piercings at this point due to being more focused on perfecting her makeup.

Aside from photography, her other hobbies are thrifting clothes, collecting prints and art for her wall, and learning how to speak Greek - as her dad’s from Athens and she wants to incorporate his heritage into her life. She has been considering learning Spanish too considering this, but doesn’t quite know if she’s emotionally prepared to take the plunge. Thanks to her dad working as a coffee shop owner - running an LGBTQIA+ friendly cafe named Q-Hub - she often brings in treats to share with her friends, always saving the shortbreads for Zaya. After school she heads there most days in order to walk home with him, and also because she’s friends with several staff members; as he employed one of her friends recently. She does have a boyfriend but prefers keeping this quiet, as her life has already been talked about extensively thanks to the incidents with Kellie; not wanting him to feel pressured by the social scene, as he’s someone who’s never been affronted by her background and always focuses on the similarities between them opposed to the differences. Their favourite dates tend to be visiting animal sanctuaries or hanging around the local music scene, although she’s the first to admit she cannot play any instruments and infamously once created the most strangled recorder sound known to her third grade teachers’ ears.

The next student was domestically adopted as a 5 year old alongside her sister, who was 2 at the time. Her biological father has Slovakian heritage and her biological mother has Moroccan heritage. Her adoptive parents are African American and have one child of their own, named Andre, who is 12. Her parents were having trouble conceiving and turned to adoption in hopes to help out kids in the community. The three kids have formed a very close sibling bond, with this student becoming a very encouraging older sister.

She stands around 5’4 and has an athletic build to her. Her long brown hair is usually thrown into a messy bun or a ponytail as she doesn’t like when it gets in her face. She enjoys wearing leggings or jogger sweatpants with oversized baggy t-shirts or sweatshirts. She is a volleyball player and is the libero of the team. She is good friends with Parvana Ahmadi-Taylor from East Marsh’s 12th grade philosophy class as they are rivals on the school volleyball court but friends on their club volleyball team.

She enjoys listening to rap and hip-hop music as it’s always playing in the gym during volleyball practice. Plus, Andre is really into it and she finds it as a way to connect with her little brother.

The 12th student absolutely loathed maths for the majority of her years in school, insisting she couldn’t participate in lessons properly - sometimes going as far as to skip them; an attitude that was assumed as stubbornness until she was 14 and got diagnosed with number dyslexia. This helped her considerably, as it allowed teaching to be tailored to her and while she’s never going to love trig, she’s much more comfortable now she isn’t being pressured or having assumptions thrown at her. English is where she excels, particularly creative writing of any kind, and she’s also talented at metalwork, crafting a variety of things: ranging from jewelry to key chains - most of which serve as personalised gifts for her loved one’s.

Living with her dad, stepmom and 2-year-old sister Arabella, she sees her mom and stepdad during holiday periods, travelling to Kerrville, Texas where her maternal family lives - her mother having chosen to stay there due to her established career in interior design. She’s considered the joker of the family, having a subtle, quirky sense of humour and attributes this to how well both sides get along. Her best friend is Kelso Pendry’s big sister and she sometimes feels guilty that she has four parental figures whereas her dear friend only has one, but this has never dampened their bond - which began in the 2nd Grade after they were sat next to one another and clicked immediately.

Very slight at 5’2" and with a fair complexion, she’s quite androgynous in her appearance, including how she styles her fairy-meets-cottagecore aesthetic. She dyes her naturally light brown hair a bright shade of apricot - that brightens more against her blue-green eyes - and cuts it short so it frames her face in tufts flicking outwards, dotting it with slides and clips for both practicality and visual value. Her clothes are always light and airy, billowing about her skinny ankles and wrists; typically going for white, cream, silver, blue, purple and yellow, the latter three of which are typically paler shades. She has her navel pierced and wears a clear stud in the left side of her nose; recently having gotten a tattoo on her right shoulder. The prized item she owns is a faux fur coat with a deer pattern on it, sometimes even matching her makeup to the print.

Haylee’s someone she’s come to know better due to the other girl being friends with Bea, Kelso’s supposed not-girlfriend (which his sister is very skeptical of), and they chat about zine making often due to this students’ hopes on getting her writing published. This girl can get along with just about anyone thanks to her easygoing, live-and-let-live attitude which has settled following her dyslexia diagnosis - having once been a very high strung and antsy person, with the lack of stress doing wonders for her self-esteem. Her pet hamster Truffle benefits from her metalwork skills, as she customises her cage often; getting pieces of scrap from her stepmom, Eleanor, who’s a welder. When she isn’t working on her creative projects, she enjoys going for long walks with her dad, Julian - a paramedic who finds they help clear his head - or climbing. She diligently attends High Velocity gigs and has done some songwriting for them actually.

Summary

The next student is admittedly a creative personality at heart, often feeling insecure in comparison to some of his classmates - which he tries his best to hide. He belongs to the band High Velocity - performing as the frontman - alongside Thorn Newman and subsequently is close friends with Warui based on their mutual connection. His mum’s a Scottish opera singer and raised him and his sister - who’s older than him only by thirteen months and attends St. Veronica’s - as a single parent following the sudden passing of their father, a music video director, from complications to do with alcoholism. This had led to him to develop an interest in becoming a substance counselor, even if his music works out as he considers it a highly important service - and wants to prevent others enduring the complex feelings he went through growing up in regards to his dad. He has silky, dark red hair cut at jaw length and dresses in an elegant style that favours dark colours, velvet fabric and sheer material - with his right ear being extensively pierced as well as his septum, often wearing glittery cloud stickers beneath his eyes. At last three times a year he visits his extended family in Dumbarton and incorporates Scottish slang into his songwriting for added flavour. His closest confident is his maternal cousin Alistair - who’s only a week younger than him - and the pair vidchat once a week usually. Although shy throughout his childhood, music really helped him come out of his shell and he’s part of a large friend group - consisting of students from numerous schools, as he loves meeting contrasting personalities. He’s the proud owner of a pet bearded dragon - named Shredder, in tribute to he and his sister’s devotion to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as kids - and Alistair’s sister Maeva painted Shredder onto the back of a denim jacket he proudly wears to gigs. Recently he’s felt more able to open up to Mr McSimmons’ about his fears - especially in the wake of his hopes to work helping others - and the support his teacher has shown in return has considerably eased his mind.

The next student is Oszkar Ngcobo’s longtime friend. This student’s mother is a family health doctor in the same building as Oszkar’s mother. This student is also interested in medicine but prefers the testing and background work of biology. He got his first microscope at 5 and has been looking under it ever since.

This student is in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy but has not let that stop him from hitting the skate park or doing his own version of parkour. He has recently joined the competitive disabled skateboarding scene and is getting some traction with viral videos. His best friend, Tully Keightley, is over at East Marsh Academy… They met in preschool, Tully often decorated this student’s wheelchair and stood on it like a chariot. They have found common ground in loving bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco. This student has dabbled with guitar on and off for years but finds most peace in science. After a day of adrenaline and excitement making videos or just a hard day at school, this student somehow always minds his way to his microscope. Looking at the biological side of things never ceases to amaze him. His own diagnosis likely influencing him there.

This student is one of three kid, the second boy and youngest. His siblings are 3 and 5 years older than him and they remain close even with them at college and in the “adult” world. You would know this family anywhere by their olive skin, dark hair, and chocolate brown eyes. Going back their ancestors were Greek and Roman. The family joke has always been that they would have had an empire if their great- great-great x100 ancestors hadn’t fallen for each other. In fact, their home wifi is the EmpireStrikesBack. He misses his siblings most when both of his parents are home and they are eating dinner together or just hanging out. With his siblings out of the house doctor mom and business owner dad notice his antics more. He’s not allowed to gauge his ears- hopefully ever if it’s up to his mom, but he does have them pierced. His style is pretty standard otherwise - jeans and a tshirt most days. Despite Tully’s influence, this student and Oszkar are more on the same page when it comes to style.

This next student is Tate’s friend and the only person who he has come out to. She and Tate have been friends since as long as she can remember. This student is half Black and half Pakistani. Her parents are rather atheistic but she has been learning a lot about Islam and wants to revert. She is 5’10, and wears her hair in braids. This student is bisexual but does not want to date anybody until college as she’s focused on getting into college to be an animator.

She has a lot of focus on this because she realizes it is a very competitive industry. She doesn’t have much interest in math but still does her best to comprehend the class. She wants to make sure her grades stand out alongside her portfolio. Some may worry this student could easily get burnt out as she’s constantly either studying or drawing but she claims it’s therapeutic.

If she does not get into animation school, her back up job is to be a children’s psychologist. She recently has been considering pursuing this as her main career idea which has added a whole new level of stress to her life.

The 15th student is Chinese-American and feels like her world has come crashing down despite previously seeming like her family situation had been improving. After three years her mother has oficially gone from separation to divorce when it comes to her father who is a gambling addict - and has been for twenty years despite the family’s best efforts to help him - starting when they moved from Macau to St. James’ March before the student’s birth - it was only her parents and older brother, Huizhong " Hugh " then. Her mom , Lanfen , seemed to think that once he is away from the temptation of the region’s many casinos, her husband would change. Unfortunately he didn’t and shortly after this student’s third birthday, he started participating in betting games online, as well as bulk-buying lottery tickets. At some points the family’s financial situation was strained enough that they had to rely on food stamps or live several weeks without electricity - only through separation did her mom manage to make her finances independent from her husband’s. Despite going through therapy and support groups the student’s dad failed to ever regain his wife’s trust, albeit he did seem to get along well with Hugh who , this student thought, managed to forgive him the less than rosy years of childhood.

Nevertheless, a few weeks ago Hugh has been arrested and the police alledged that he has committed the white-collar crime of counterfeiting money and non-cash means of payment - which would suggest that he was really the enabler of dad’s habit, illegaly making fake money for him to be able to continue playing betting games.

Needless to say , this student feels like she has lost everything along with the two most important men in her life - or, at least she thought they were. At the moment she is furious enough that she wishes the family ties between them didn’t exist, because they feel like complete strangers. She considers herself obligated to grow an even thicker skin for the sake of trying to save her mom’s mental health. She used to try really hard to excel at school but does not even care any longer - not even for physics, which was her favourite subject. Only her gerbils - Newton and Pascal - bring some kind of a smile to her face.

At only 5’1’’ she seems even shorter now that her posture became worse and she began walking everywhere hunched-up. She stil wears make-up - in fact. excessive amounts of it in increasingly dark colours, even going as far as navy blue eyeshadow and matte black lipstick last Thursday - although earlier she argued that it didn’t really go well with her naturally toffee-like skintone. She even got a pimple on the left side of her forhead, just below the hairline - and her dermathologist is certain that it’s due to stress. Some students, particurarly from younger classes, are picking on her by speculating that she will become a goth or emo , but for now she only wears her brunswick green , oversized hoodie and pegged pants with llamacorns on it - not really caring how ridiculous the whole outfit looks because all she knows is that she is comfortable and hidden inside of it - treating it like a shell that makes people talk about the absurdity of the clothing rather than her situation.

After seeing how she behaves on the school halls and talking to her mom, Dr. Aamodt tried to be less strict towards her than others , but tries hard not to cross the line of showing some kind of favoritism based on the student’s previous academic achievements during the lesson. She asked her to stay after one of the classes, suppousedly to talk about catching up on material, but what she really did is bring Mocha from the teacher’s room to let this student play tug-of-war with her. Then, she communicated that she’s going to leave her with the school’s psychologist, Mr. Oscar Tanaka . This way she tried to ensure that the talk about her situation is as stress-free as possible for this student. She of course doesn’t know what has been said, but judging by the warm “Thank you” and a smile on the student’s face it seems like she appreciated the gesture.

@pixelatedinfants I hope you are fine with no midddle name for your character! A lot of Pakistani/Urdu names have a religious connotation so I decided not to include any as a middle , since Priscilla ’ s parents are atheists.
@I_meme_it Since Dr. Aamodt is your character, please let me know if the last paragraph fits how you would imagine her to behave. If not, I will gladly remove it!

The next student is a boy with a solid family background. He’s the second of 4 kids, with his older sister in her sophomore year of college, and his younger brother a freshman in high school, while his younger sister is in 7th grade. His parents would describe themselves as “regular”. Their home is warm and chaotic, decorated with stuff that his older sister jokes is cheugy, but he secretly enjoys because the corny sayings make his mom happy. He likes when people are happy. He has a strong sense of emotional intelligence, and seems to know when his friends need a listening ear. He has always been empathetic to his friends, has helped out Indiana, and is curious but cautious around Tate. He has a passion for real social justice, but is aware that the current thinking is that he should let others (not him, a white, cishet guy) take the lead in the important conversations.

He has a stocky build, standing at 5’8. His low center of gravity has helped him in his wrestling matches, and he wrestles for the varsity team. He has golden brown hair that he wears in a neat side part, and hazel eyes. His nose turns up slightly, and he has a peachy complexion that he wishes were a little clearer. He wears whatever’s clean, but likes graphic tees and hoodies, and board shorts when it’s warm enough, jeans when it’s cold.

He does well in school, but isn’t going to be making a 4.0. His parents don’t mind, as long as he gets As and Bs, which he does. He also is working on the stage crew for this semester’s drama production of Little Shop of Horrors. He’s become closer to the student who’s playing Audrey, who is also in the Trig class.

The 17th student sees maths more as a stepping stone thanks to their love of biochemistry and the importance of calculations in the subject they prefer. Since the age of twelve they’ve been openly non-binary and chose a nickname for themselves which relates to their love of astronomy, as they found it a better means of expressing themselves than deriving a nickname from their gendered birth name; being thankful their family were supportive and accepting of them. They’re the elder of two children - having a younger sister who’s just started at St. Paul’s and is already carving out her name within the drama department, with her older sibling hoping her determination and versatility will allow her to succeed in her dreams; keeping their worries and doubts private as to not disenchant her with this dream. Although they aren’t exactly shy, the spotlight is something they’re happier staying out of, even when it comes to hanging out with their friends: a diverse bunch with different interests, goals and backgrounds, as this student knows hanging around with the other aspiring scientists alone would drive them absolutely mad.

In particular they’ve always admired their mother, Li Ming, who emigrated from Héyuán when she was eight and faced a lot of prejudice and bullying on account of not speaking much English; only to craft a successful career in journalism and now she works for a respectable news broadcasting network as an anchor, presenting the afternoon news. Their dad Michael is a third generation immigrant who works in agricultural science, looking towards sustainable and environmentally friendly means of increasing produce growth - having been inspired by his own grandparents who were farmers from Nanyuanzi Village, choosing to move thanks to poor soil fertility. Both of their parents have been supportive of their children’s contrasting paths, however its apparent they worry more about their younger child on account of her dream industry being much more unstable and unpredictable (something she complains about to her older sibling from at times).

At 5’10", they’re slender and languid, having very long legs that make up the majority of their height. They dress in a royalcore manner which primarily consists of velvet jackets and blazers paired up with billowing trousers, silk or sheer shirts and even include some chainmail - having got a wonderful pair of pants in silver that they’re very proud of. The patterns they incorporate are inspired by the Chinese monarch and usually they have lace up boots on their feet, although a pair of creepers from their parents for Christmas have been introduced to thrir wardrobe now. Blue, grey, black and purple are their absolute favourite colours, contrasted with gold or silver accents; including wearing little gems around their deep brown eyes, or sometimes lining them with long reaching wings. Using gel, they style finger curls into the front bangs of their hair - which is jet black, although they recently dip dyed the ends indigo, and are proud of how they rest against the base of their neck. They have their earlobes pierced twice and favour simplistic jewelry, recently having added a medusa piercing to their collection, but aren’t too sure about something as committed as a tattoo - as it took them a few weeks to decide they liked how the medusa looked compared to their thin lips and oval shaped face. Sometimes they get their nails done too, going with their mom and sister, but this is infrequent as they’re saving up for their own car with university on the horizon.

When they were younger they were close friends with Stephanie - even referring to her as Steph affectionately - and they treated Mandarin as a secret code to share their deepest fears and greatest hopes, but they grew into different people, and by the time of high school this students aloof confidence and flippant sarcasm could be a bit intimidating. Since things worsened for Stephanie, they’ve wanted to reach out to her and offer a listening ear if she’d like - being considered the go-to in their friend group for this - but admittedly don’t feel certain about this, worrying she might consider it disingenuous thanks to them only being acquaintances for several years now. They want to ask Dr. Aamodt about this, but seeing how she’s helping Stephanie has only increased their fear of being told to stay away.

They’ve just celebrated their third anniversary with their girlfriend, who also attends St. Paul’s but isn’t in this class (probably to the relief of their teacher, as she’s had some poor experiences with couples in trig together). In spite of being happily committed to her, several people have had crushes on this student - with their being an instant where someone who didn’t know they were already with someone made a very overt pass, leading to this student feeling awkward whenever they’re placed in class together. Most of it stems from feeling they didn’t broadcast things with their girlfriend enough, as she means the world to them and had always been someone they’ve opened up to, including about the Stephanie situation. In spite of seeming a little icy and “over it” to some, they’re a very sentimental and romantic type at heart; putting hours of thought into gifts and dates. To celebrate the three years, the pair went on a weekend trip to Bainhurst to visit the science museum and art gallery - having not just a lovely time, but also finding some much needed space to relax and get away from the stresses home can bring.

The next student is good friends with Blaine - but admittedly, it’s hard to find someone who she is not friends with, due to being a huge social butterfly. She has tried out every hobby in the world - from skating through video games to singing - and it left her with a very diverse group to hang out with. This year, she decided to try acting and in her typical fashion went with the bold option of auditioning for Audrey in " Little Shop Of Horrors" for no reason other than the plant in the musical reminded her of Cowplant from the Sims series and she thought the whole concept is awesome. The main teacher of the Drama Club recognised her expirience in singing (the church choir is one of the hobbies she hasn’t abandonded after a few tries, having been there since 5th grade) and agreed for her to play Audrey, which this student was very surprised about.

Everyone was convinced that it was Polaris’ sister who is going to take the role - and some even tried to initiate rivarly between the two - but this student quickly shot it down, knowing how women criticizing other women can lead to the devastation of one’s self-esteem.

She gained that knowledge from the experiences of her sister , Lavonne , who was bullied by Gemma Kate Norton , a former student at Saint Paul’s - for nothing other than reading romance novels during lunch breaks and daring to prefer dresses or overalls in pink and purple to trousers , which Lavonne typically avoids wearing to this day - even though she had a brief period of shopaholism in search of a less stereotypically feminine style that would suit her just as well - she was willing to spend all of her allowence on any clothes that would prompt the main “mean girl” of the school to stop mocking her. It of course strained both sisters’ personal budgets, because this student was always willing to borrow her money too - and they missed out on many “Sister Sundays” together , not being able to spend time bettering their relationship at the cinema, museum or a restaurant. The temporary loss of this ritual might seem minor but hurt this student more than she would ever admit to anybody, being closer with Lavonne than anyone else in the family.

This student is still incredibly resentful towards Gemma Kate and even though Lavonne is now doing well in a new environment, studying Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Rhode Island in hopes of becoming a bestselling romance author.

The social butterfly still feels like the toxic aura of judgment around being a woman hasn’t quite left the school, even without a new mean girl clique emerging. After getting the approval of her not-yet-famous sister and conversing with the Turner siblings , who were also affected by the whole ordeal, she decided to write to Gemma Kate 's boyfriend, Lemuel through Instagram . letting him know Lavonne 's and Remi Turner ’ s story, as well as confronting Gemma Kate more directly through a voice message. She felt like it was the only way she could possibly get any kind of closure regarding the situation and move on, focusing on her work to connect people from different social circles and make St. Paul’s a better place.

Because of the many hobbies that she had, she incorporated somewhat ecclectic elements of the style of many subcultures - you’ll see her in ripped high-waist jeans and baseball caps typical for skater girls, but also she’ll make efforts to make her style more feminine with bubblegum pink sneakers, belts in pastel colors and nails painted a nice shade of lavender. She wears her cinnabar dyed hair in dreadlocks , but the most noticeable feature on her head are her JBL headphones which her clasmatess claim to never have left her hears or neck since the day she bought them - blasting classic girl groups like TLC and Destiny’s Child , whose music showed her the power of African American women like her to make great art. She doesn’t yet know if she wants to go down that path too - in fact, her multitude of hobbies led to an intense confusion an uncertainty about her future as a professional, because as much as she would like to do more than just earning money, she can’t possibly turn all of her past and present interests into a business. She often raises those concerns when talking to Blaine during rehearsals or to Indiana when she skates. Frankly, the infatuation she feels for the latter guy probably won’t make her final decision to be made anytime soon.

Alexis Hartley Turner

The first student is approaching their seventeenth birthday and with this, they’re feeling increased determination to figure out the next step in their life. Having come out as non-binary when they were fourteen, this wasn’t an easy journey - their dad’s now ex-girlfriend deemed this merely a cry for attention, and the often tense relationship between their parents became much more fraught during this time. It was their older sister who proved to be a rock during this time, offering a listening ear whenever they needed and doing her best to ensure they didn’t blame themselves for the arguments; with this student crediting her compassion as what inspired them to be interested in childcare, hoping to promote a more inclusive environment where identity is embraced. Since she left for university to train in psychotherapy, they’ve missed their sister but have continued as her greatest supporter - knowing she’ll be perfect in her chosen career path - and this encouraging nature is applied to their friends too, always going out of their way to offer praise or constructive criticism if it’s asked for. After their dad broke up with his girlfriend - pretty quickly after her comment, but before the War of Words was over - he went out of his way to support them, something that they not only appreciate but find especially reassuring, as they had a special bond with him prior to this (both being absolutely mad about B-Movies) and feared it would be broken, thankfully it’s now only strengthened!

At 5’5", they have a natural flush to their complexion which is offset by the ruddy gold of their hair - which has a natural wave to it and is cut at shoulder length, pushed back with clips or a tied into a loose braid, emulating a lazy styling. The light green of their eyes brightens against this, even more so thanks to their favouring of gold jewelry. Their aesthetic is Hellenic, however they aren’t quite ready to don a toga - instead preferring flowing fabrics, oversized blouses and maxi skirts, or the occasional corset depicting either classical mythology figures or artwork from the actual time period; with white, peach and pale cream being the staple colours. Alternatively they might wear some silk trousers and an oversized jumper, rather amusingly always wearing fluffy socks. This stems from their love of Greek myths growing up, and in particular they enjoy paying homage to lesser known deities, with a favoured makeup look being based on Melione, Goddess of Ghosts. Although they have twice pierced earlobes they decided against anything else until they’re legally able to get a tattoo, having been saving up from their weekend job at their mom’s sporting goods shop. In spite of both their parents and stepdad being avid about sports, they’ve got a slight figure and openly joke about their lack of interest - with tennis being the sole exception.

Although they admit to having no artistic skills, this students close with Caz Vélez and have spoken to him a lot about the difficulties he’s faced - with their respective bonds with their older siblings being what led to this friendship. Now they have a suspicion their feelings for him have ventured into crush territory but never know how to express this, especially as they’re so different to Pomeline Newman - and the fear of ruining a relationship that means so much to them holds them back. They’re thankful that their best friend is also attending this class, as the pair’s love of weird films and movie trivia keeps their mind off Caz - instead trying to balance the laughter with taking in Ms. Daskal’s information, feeling a little guilty about their not always perfect attention span. This friendship stems back to when they were in kindergarten themselves, having bonded over their strong imaginations and love of playing complex pretend games. The teacher’s style is something that’s earned this students respect and they always perform well in her class, not being the most natural academic but their grades vary considerably depending on what subject they’re being taught - something they’re at peace with and often joke about themselves. Thanks to their demeanor they’re pretty popular in a unique way, getting along with most of their classmates - unless someone’s particularly prickly or intolerant - but their core friend group is small, as they don’t always enjoy lots of attention (something they prefer to hide); based on being bombarded with questions when their parents divorce - and conflict - started. Their one Achilles Heel - as they call it - is their gluten intolerance, which is especially frustrating at times thanks to their mom being an amazing bread maker: something their friends are always benefitting from.

Remi Sterling Turner

The next student is Alexis’ older sister. She tries her hardest to support them after they came out as non-binary and in an effort to do this, she talks a lot with Tati and Vernon at university because she knows they had their own struggles regarding gender identity. She also sometimes to Rimon, who is non-binary, although they are not particularly close because she doesn’t understand their interest in technology much. All of these people she does her best to value as friends or acquaintances. She listens very closely when they talk about what made them feel welcomed following coming-out. She enjoyed Vernon’s story about the pendant with genderfluid flag colours that he received from his own sister and wants to make a similar piece of home-made jewellery for Alexis, too. Through this bunch of friends she also got to know Lemuel and is kind of concerned about him because of the relationship she had with his girlfriend while in high school.

She and Gemma Kate Norton attended St. Paul’s before they went to different colleges. They both spent their high school years in positions of power at the school. They were very popular, witty and rather good at talking back to teachers. They got those skills at the prestigious Speech and Debate after-school club that St. Paul’s is famous for to this day. Pretty soon, they formed a “mean girl” clique with three other girls – Roselyn Grant , Keziah Brown and Quadira Malik. Gemma Kate was their perceived leader. She dictated how they should dress to be “unique” – she regularly put down other women for liking traditionally feminine things like the colour pink, romantic comedies or shopping. She also shut down the ability of girls she deemed “unworthy” to attend social events organised by the clique , as well as used her oratory skills to make jokes at the expense of those girls, which more often than not received immediate laughs from the high-school audience – including her. ’

In reality, the girl was the very type of woman Gemma Kate hated so much – loving pink, ponies, cliché pop music from the 90s and 00s to the effect of Britney Spears or NSYNC, and most importantly – she felt a deep sisterhood with other women, which is the cause of her now being a rather enthusiastic advocate for feminist causes. What pushed her into a friendship with Gemma Kate was not a genuine connection, but rather the fear of being a social outcast.

Once another girl from the clique - Quadira – was attacked by Gemma Kate verbally under the guise of a joke. The reason was as trivial as noticing that Quadira, in fact, watched Love Island on her phone despite informing her beforehand that she was playing the mobile version for League of Legends. The “jokes” continued further after Quadira wore a salmon-coloured hijab that she received from her grandma who was visiting from Jordan. All because Gemma Kate deemed the colour basically pink. She was promptly pushed to the side for those two huge offenses. Several isolation techniques were used against her, the very same ones she used to isolate “girly girls”.

This was the final straw for the girl – together with Quadira they decided to break away from the toxic environment. It showed her that Gemma Kate was entirely capable of turning her back on those she called closest friends as long as she felt they didn’t quite fit into her definition of a “real woman”. The girl worries about Lemuel and often contemplates whether or not she should tell him about Gemma Kate ‘s past. As much as she would like to assume that the now-tattoo artist has changed, she predicts how damaging Gemma Kate ‘s past toxic behaviours could be for Lemuel’s sensitive soul.

Now, the girl can comfortably dress according to the “soft girl” aesthetic. At 5’4’’ she has bubblegum pink hair with bangs that she often wears in pigtails. Her outfits are mostly monochrome in light colours – light purple or blue being her favourite, although from time to time she will go into a full-on Barbie mode and wear everything in hot pink. Her favourite things are plain cardigans or tight-fitted tops with long sleeves. She also enjoys plaid skirts and cute, fruit-themed and candy-themed accessories. Her cherry-shaped earrings and cotton candy necklace are stuff you will rarely see her without. She will also sometimes wear sheer dresses, mostly white ones with flowery patterns. She experiments a lot with make-up, often using silver or golden, but minimalist face jewellery. She also has a habit of adding a layer of peachy or coral blush from her left to right cheek over the middle of her nose. She doesn’t plan on having any make-up or piercing done, as she feels she would regret getting them quickly due to her tendency to constantly want to modify something about her appearance. Something as permanent as a tattoo just wouldn’t fit her.

is my creation :butterfly:

The next student grew up as an only child and therefore was has always been very much his parents’ highest priority. When he was a child, his dad Raymond stayed at home with him while his mom. Thelma , worked as a laboratory director for a biomedical company. This made him understandably closer to his dad, who recieved a lot of criticism for being a stay-at-home parent and enjoying not only repairs around the house , but also cooking and baking, while mom was the main breadwinner and did most of the cleaning as well as decorating. His dad’s unapologetic being himself regardless of others’ opinions and outstanding devotion to family life has showed him that a “real man” can do whatever he wants and care for loved ones however he sees fit, no matter how society dictates.

This led the guy to also develop an interest in cooking and he went from culinary art to visual art rather quickly, ultimately choosing Animation at university. In his work he loves incorporating the theme of family or family-like bonds between friends. A common character there is a fluffy dragon full of neon-green and bright yellow feathers - which honors both his lovebirds Plum and Persimmon as well as his eastern bearded dragon Clementine .

At 5’8’’ has a tan complexion and dark, almost black eyes. He likes the way it contrasts with his lilac blonde hair that is wavy and styled in the " curtain " hairstyle. He prefers pastel colors , his favourite being pastel mint and light purple , but he also likes more lively ones like canary yellow from time to time. Dressing rather comfy , you can often see him in oversized sweaters with stripes, bowling shirts with flowery or plant motifs and Adidas sneakers. As for trousers he wears mostly classic Levi’s or grey chinos. There is a bit of a tougher side to this soft aesthetic, as he also has shark bites piercings and a tattoo on his neck that shows Saturn with two stars around it - symbolizing his parents who were always there for him even when he felt isolated as if he was an alien from another planet. He was really thankful to the also college-attending tattoo artist who did it - so much so that he brought her flowers and bonbons , which she treated as an opportunity to ask him out. Now him and Gemma Kate have been together for six months and his parents absolutely adore how caring she is towards their son, while also convincing his introverted self to get out of his comfort zone and be adventurous!

At university he often hangs out with Pixel , admiring her androgynous look and taking beauty tips from her. He also is a frequent customer at the campus coffee shop together with Tati , which leads to many interesting conversations where he’s listening closely while sipping caramel frappucino and sketching. Vernon is another buddy of his - their conversations are often deep and revolve around how different their family lives are from eachother. This guy feels like Vernon is wise beyond his years and often takes advice from him when dealing with immense sadness.

This student is a studious seventeen-year-old who appreciates math classes because they don’t necessarily call for much discussion compared to other subjects: when either the answer is 7.43 or it’s not, there’s not much to debate. She feels this way because she hates speaking up in class, both because of her generally shy and reserved nature and because she’s very self-conscious about her severe stutter. She has a much more outspoken and loud twin sister and throughout their childhoods the sister has always stood up for this student and spoken for the both of them. Although this may have contributed to this student’s not developing as many of the skills to speak up for herself, she is grateful for her sister, who she considers her best friend, and wouldn’t trade their bond and relationship for anything.

She loves learning about anything she can, and does enjoy math for its own sake besides her personal reasons for enjoying the class. She finds it fascinating how everything in the can be described mathematically and appreciates the beauty of the patterns that form in nature. She also finds the mathematical connections between everything comforting, as she works out her own beliefs – she was raised in a Catholic family but has found it more and more difficult to reconcile her parents beliefs with her own understanding of the world, and has adopted an atheistic viewpoint herself.

This student has a petite build, at only 5’1", and has pale, freckled skin and curly red hair that she keeps pulled neatly back. She has a vintage sense of fashion and enjoys wearing interesting thrift shop finds or things she’s sewn or knitted herself, this being a major way for her to express herself since she doesn’t often do so out loud. She uses her skill with geometry to create interesting and complex designs. Lately she’s gotten involved in the school’s theater department, making costumes for their shows and performances. She wasn’t sure she would have much in common with the theater kids, people with the confidence to get up in front of the whole school to act and sing and dance, but she’s found she enjoys the atmosphere of the theater programs she’s been involved in and hanging around at the edge of that social group, and wonders if this might be something she’d like to explore further in in the future.

Although most people don’t get to see it a lot because of her reserved exterior, she does have a silly, playful nature and enjoys joking around with the people she feels comfortable with. She’s been developing a friendship with [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] Coulting, through their having some classes such as this one together and both being involved in the school play in a context other than being onstage.

The next student is Japanese-American. Like his parents, he has an English first and middle name, as the tradition in a subset of the culture is to de-emphasize the Japanese naming customs, due to the harsh internment and racism that their ancestors (this students grandparents and great-grandparents) faced. He wrestles on the team with Blaine, although in a different weight class. He also loves drawing, and is interested in Priscilla’s art, but doesn’t feel comfortable saying so. He tends to be soft-spoken when in larger groups, but more energized around his friends. He’s had a solid group of friends ever since he moved here in 5th grade, with Isaac, Oszkar, and Tully being among them.
This student came out as gay at the beginning of the school year, and has had broad support from family and friends, but isn’t quite ready to sew any pride flags on his belongings. He mostly feels like it’s private. He was also concerned because wrestling is such a masculine sport, he didn’t want to cause any ripples among the team. Upon letting his coaches know, however, one of them let him know that he, himself, was pansexual, and would absolutely have this student’s back. There was a little bit of teasing, nothing mean-spirited, when his teammates found out, but Blaine and his coach helped them quash it right off. His younger brother told him he was really proud of him when he came out, and his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins? All said the same. They told him, basically, that life was too short not to love who you love, which gave him an awesome feeling of confidence and acceptance.

He’s 5’9, with short black hair neatly cut in the back, but allowed to grow a little longer in the front. He’s highlighted some of his bangs a honey blonde. He wears dark green rectangular glasses, and has some freckles from staying outside as often as he can. He uses a magnetic jewelry set to mimic an eyebrow piercing, wanting to get it pierced for real when he’s no longer wrestling. (This also served as a great compromise with his family). He tends to dress neatly, wearing slim khakis with button down shirts with pattern prints like little dolphins or apples and oranges. He also always has his signature colorful striped socks tucked into a pair of slides.

He doesn’t mind trig, and does well in the class, but knows that something in the communications realm is in his future - not in front of the camera or microphone, necessarily, but he’s interested in how information gets disseminated. Blaine is trying to get him to join stage crew, but that’s not quite what he means. He likes studying ham radio, and thinking about satellites.

The next student is a girl who wants to pursue engineering in college. She has wavy red hair which she clips back with fun barrettes and berets. She is around 5’1 and has a bit of a curvy frame. She has a fall aesthetic to her wardrobe with fun coats, sweaters, scarves, and boots. She loves walking around the school grounds in her free time to see the changing leaves and reminisce in the fall atmosphere.

This student is bisexual and has experimented with male and female partners in the past. She enjoys playing the piano and is decent at drawing and sketching. She is not great at trigonometry and often has to come in for Dr. Aamodt’s office hours to try and understand some of the more difficult concepts. She does not have a lot of close friends in the class, but Mylene is always trying to stir up a conversation with her.

She was raised by her parents until her dad passed away in a car crash when she was younger, leaving her mom to fall into a bad path of drug and alcohol addiction. This student is an only child and was removed from her mom’s care and was placed with her aunt and uncle. She enjoyed growing up with her cousins because she finally felt like she had siblings of her own. After several years, her mom became sober again and this student was allowed to go back to her mom’s care. Some of the trauma still remains in her, which could be why she does not always open up to new people immediately.

The next student’s great-grandparents came here from French Polynesia and he still has a Polynesian name as a middle , with his family trying to uphold knowledge about ancestry within the family, although this student doesn’t really care about his roots and strongly prefers his first name, which has an all-American ring to it and honors a former president , under whose administration his grandpa became a police officer. Working in public service made the grandpa Robert " Bobby " very much an American patriot, who despite not being able to stand anymore and using a wheelchair due to diabetic neuropathy, will always sing the national anthem with great enthusiasm , even though he still remembers his times in Polynesia as a young child and thinks that Oceania in general is a breathtakingly beautiful world region which this student should definitely visit.

This opinion stems from his grandpa supporting this student’s dream to travel the world - he would love to do it in a van , patricurarly one similliar to the van owned by Eva 's parents - which reminds him of his favourite cartoon " Scooby Doo". He and Eva often joke about how their taste in cars is the only thing Eva really appreciates about her parents. This student often talks to her about travelling the country together and attending seminars talking about feminism. - he is a feminist too and got to know a lot about the concept from his friend - using the knowledge primarly to support his older sister, Millicent , who recently broke up with her misogonystic boyfriend and is struggling with mental health.

The guy isn’t too vocal about his beliefs in the class because everyone in the school knows that his family is quite conservative unlike himself, so he doesn’t want to be seen as dishonest or make it seem like he’s using feminism to get romantically involved with Eva - who, by the way, he sees exclusively as a friend or even a second sister - He and Millicent used to play with the Collinswood siblings on the local playground all day long when they were in preschool.

The 17 year old is , nevertheless , not as close with Eva as he is with Augustine Abbott - who he has known for even longer, as their moms met at the same Mommy and Me swimming classes. They remain friends to this day and love to embarass them both with the toddler pictures of them trying to pretend like they’re both dolphins or seals. He even grew up with the children’s books Augustine 's mom wrote. This guy always tries to do something fun with Augustine - particurarly enjoying nature together and going to the nearby lake on their bikes. He knows how much Augustine tends to put others before himself and how much his thoughtful advice has helped him so far, so he is careful to always give as much as he recieves from him, not only by spending time together but also by always remembering about birthdays, anniversaries and other days that are important for their friendship.

His aesthetics is a rather bizzare mix of cartooncore and naturecore - one day he will show up to school in an outfit full of neon colors , with T-shirts showing motifs from weird 00s cartoons like Cow and Chicken or I Am Weasel. On those days he’ll also typically wear colorful hair extensions which strongly contrast with his jet black hair and bunch of rubber handbands. Dr. Aamondt doesn’t really like that childlike side of him , strongly preferring when he goes to school in a neat bun , wearing an emerald green collared shirt and grey denim jeans.

The two creatures that helped him be close to nature and never give up on his inner child are his beloved family dogs - Igraine , a 11-year old French Beauceron who was adopted by his grandpa after no longer being capable of working in the police force, as well as Philemon , a 14-month-old red merle border collie who is still as active as a brand new puppy and loves training dog sports like agility and frisbee with his owner. Both dogs know Mocha well and hang around with her at the local dog park. Although Dr. Aamondt thinks this student should make an effort to act more maturely and treat school more seriously , she acknowledges that he is a good kid at heart and all he need sometimes is just a honest conversation , even if it has to be brutally honest.

Augustine Roy Abbott

The 15th student has a naturally reassuring presence, which is what led to the recommendation he take this class. He’s always the friend others go to asking for advice or to explain their hangups to - something he attributes to being from a family with many members involved in counselling or therapy - and serves as a similar figure to the children the students look after, having also been involved in helping reconciliation following an argument or squabble. This has its pros and cons, as sometimes he can feel overwhelmed by constantly being bombarded with questions or hearing about the latest breakup - but he never wants to turn anyone away, as he worries about the impact this might have on them. Thankfully, his best friend has absolutely no problem putting his foot down, and the pair’s chalk and cheese dynamic works incredibly well, even if some people don’t understand the two’s longstanding closeness. Growing up, he often found he stood out in his family on account of being mixed race - his mom’s black and was adopted at the age of two, so the majority of his relatives are white - and it was only when he was fourteen that he began fully embracing his Somalian heritage, recognising it as an important part of him, and he loves discussing different cultures with his peers; using his own experience to encourage those feeling nervous about reaching out. This has prompted him to enquire about forming a club within the school which focuses on cultural reconnection and to function as a safe space for biracial students in particular, as he knows exactly what it’s like to feel torn about the concept of identity. He’s currently learning how to cook traditional dishes and brings his creations to class, having once jokingly warned Ms. Daskal to not pretend she likes something just to spare his feelings - as his best friend’s blunt, brutal honesty about his unsuccessful creations never fails to make him laugh.

Having just reached 6’0", he has a medium brown complexion with a rash of freckles across his cheeks, nose and neck - matching the lovely coffee colour of his eyes wonderfully. He opts to shave his hair down and then dyes it, having gone for a turquoise and white check print most recently, which he takes pride in thanks to others complimenting it. Preferring a chaotic academia aesthetic after his gran found him some wire framed reading glasses, he incoporates Somali patterns into his styling now; using navy and dark grey as accents to work against the wide array of colours, and in the summer relates to Alisa Giovanna deeply as he can’t resist his trusty pair of birks
With his right tragus pierced, he recently got his tongue done too: a decision that unintentionally helped him in this class, as the sudden flash of metal means people always turn when he’s speaking, and this leads to properly listening. He can always be identified thanks to wearing a silver hawk broach, a gift from his paternal gramps, who broke away from the family mold and instead runs a chain of jewelry and watch shops. This student is quietly certain he’s going to enter the world of therapy himself in some capacity - but hasn’t told his parents yet, as he knows his dad (a firefighter) will be particularly worried he’s letting the family legacy dictate his choices.

Often he sees his extended family, thanks to them all living in St. James’s Marsh; including his younger cousin Kaleb, who he tends to gently tease about his reputation. His parents aren’t particularly religious though, meaning he knows why Kaleb prefers to hang out with him and his sister, who’s only a year younger than him at fifteen. They aren’t the most overtly close siblings - in part thanks to her attending St. Paul’s, as the family moved house in the year he started high school - but when they do chat, it’s meaningful and tends to relate to the future, which she’s especially prone to worrying about. When he feels uncertain, his go-to person to talk to is his mom - a children’s book author who’s known for her remarkably warm, inviting aura, something she arguably passed onto him. This is often because - while he isn’t naturally outgoing and in class tends to keep his head down to focus on the work - he’s pretty popular, and often has to weather the social scene and all its dramatic moments, personalities and conventions; getting invited to lots of parties and then witnessing the aftermath, so right now he’s choosing not to attend many. More recently he’s befriended Cassandra - as they used to attend some of the same hangouts - and this led to him spending more time with his best friends’ crowd, as he was deeply bothered by how people treated her in the wake of her pregnancy. This did generate some rumors - the most insane being that he is the father of Cassandra’s child, impressive considering when the party happened he was on holiday in Venice - but he’s dismissed them, and has actually opened up to her about his crush on someone else in turn, viewing Cassandra akin to a second sister; as he’s likewise a total film buff and finds the artform fascinating, being the king of trivia and anecdotes in this topic. His parents share this sentiment and have opened their home to her and her family, although they’re careful to not appear patronising or insincere.

The next student sometimes has to miss class, meaning she has catchup sessions with Dr. Aamodt from time-to-time. This is because she attends physical therapy often, having been born missing her left leg, and last summer she shattered her right kneecap while basejumping - leading to her requiring extra support to recover smoothly. Aside from the pain, she didn’t mind this too much as her parents don’t treat her like glass thanks to her prosthetic, and she feels it’ll make her better at her hobby in the future; as she’s an admitted adrenaline junkie who doesn’t back down from a challenge easily. She’s a pretty average student, something that doesn’t phase her too much, as sports and computing - her favourite subjects - always go well for her, even if she admits she doesn’t quite know what she wants to do in the future. While she isn’t the most gregarious person in class, her good sense of humour always comes out when she’s answering questions or doing group work; being very aware of how trig isn’t the most beloved subject by the others. She developed her thick skin and quick wit to overcome the pity she often received growing up, hating being treated as extra delicate or fragile thanks to her prosthetic - having no problem letting others know she’s more than willing to jump into anything and everything. The most outgoing thing she does is belong to the school diving team, having developed an interest when she was only six and watched her older cousin - Victoria - attend a competition, as the grace of the movements captivated her.

Her dad, Franklin ’ Frank ', is someone she relates to and confides in a lot, as he’s paraplegic and uses a wheelchair - having once considered it impossible to have children, meaning he cherishes his son (twenty-two year old Spencer) and daughter greatly; supporting them in whatever endeavours they might engage in. She attributes her sense of humour to him too, as he’s a photography teacher at Jennings-McGill, and uses jokes to help his students settle into the new environment. Her athleticism though is definitely inherited from her mom, Irena - a midwife and second generation Hungarian-American - who’s an avid runner and cross country participator; known for her gift of being able to calm down basically anyone, including her kids. This student has seen her older brother struggle with panic attacks since he was only fourteen and it’s made her very understanding of those who also endure anxiety, being very proud of Spencer for recently completing his degree in English Language and moving into his own apartment in Bainhurst, while working on his own blog and also at an outdoor goods shop for a consistent income. Now she’s got her own little secondhand car, she visits Spence whenever possible and also picks up one of her friends who lives in a remote part of town every morning - with the only rule in her vehicle being everyone has to decide on which playlist goes on.

5’9" and athletically slim, she’s got a peachy complexion that’s freckled across nose and arms most predominantly. On a bit of a whim she dyed her hair blue quite recently - a lovely bright shade - which compliments her dark grey eyes nicely, and often ties two little braids at the front, cutting it at midback length. Her dress sense is a unique mix of casual and specificity: she’s managed to thrift and buy a lot of y2k gaming tees and sweatshirts - reflecting her love of playing PS2 specifically (still owning hers) - which she wears with midi skirts or dresses for the most part; paired up with her uniquely patterned tights and secondhand pair of white Doc Martens. Anything electic that appeals to her offbeat sense of humour is included, such as her mini fizzy drink can earring collection and mauve suede jacket which her best friend helped her customise with Spyro the Dragon patches. There’s a definite Old Web influence to her aesthetic and she’s proud of this. She wears brightly coloured eyeshadow but seldom eyeliner as she feels it makes her eyes appear buggish, not always liking the roundness of her face and features, aside from her snub nose that most people comment as being cute. The right hand side of her nose is pierced and she wears a silver ring it in, not having turned eighteen yet but she’s definitely interested in getting a tattoo; partially influenced by her classmates, and also her older brother, who has three (possibly helped by his best friend, Josh, being an artist).

Aside from gaming, cooking up memes or her athletic pursuits, she’s become more interested advocating for those with prosthetics or who require mobility assistance - having become more aware of how people treat her and her dad as she’s gotten older. Thanks to how Dr. Aamodt never treats her any differently to the other students, she’s been considering asking her teacher for advice on how to pursue her goals, and has also spoken to one of her close friends who’s also in this class. To some people she seems a bit of an intentional contrarian - especially with her references to obscure games and coding theory - but she’s got a surprisingly good relationship with Tiggy, who she’s starting to realise she might be attracted to; having identified as queer since she was fifteen but never experiencing anything as intense as this. The fact the two often attend the extra lessons together has only served to intensify this but only her close friend is aware of this matter, as she doesn’t want to ruin a perfectly good friendship if Tiggy doesn’t feel the same way.

The next girl is taking trig just because it looked good on her college applications. She’s much more inclined to English and Theater - she loves a musical, and was sad but supportive when her close friend Mylene got the role of Audrey. She’s far from interested in athletics, spending her time reading and making tiktoks. She’s 5’2 and curvy with long, straight brown hair (her favorite feature), brown eyes (she got contacts freshman year, but still sometimes wears glasses). She’s been compared to actress Lea Michelle before and although she doesn’t see it, she’ll take it. She deals with a lot of insecurities and anxiety, and any compliment - especially one comparing her to someone who can sing! - is big.

She’s Ashkenazi Jewish, but not particularly religious. Her parents divorced when she was 7, and she lives with her mom and little sister, who is in middle school. Her mom is a legal secretary, and her dad isn’t in her life. She would love a pet cat, but she’s allergic. She often feels like she’s ‘too much’ for her friends, and always either has a boyfriend or wants one. It embarrasses her how much her emotions are on her sleeve, and sometimes she thinks living in the, what she jokes, House of Estrogen, doesn’t help her.

She usually dresses casually, including purple in her outfit. She likes to wear jeans and keds, and finds v-neck t-shirts flattering. Her ears are pierced just once on each side, and she isn’t personally into body modification, but admires all of her friends who do it.
