Husband and I want to name our son after our fathers, [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and [name_m]Albert[/name_m], does anybody have any ideas for a name we could use?
I would take the “[name_f]Ro[/name_f]” and “[name_m]Al[/name_m]” and mix them together to make [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].
I like the [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] suggestion! Considering both names contain -bert, here are some suggestions that contain the -bert, and them some names that are similar:
[name_m]Hubert[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Lambert[/name_m]
[name_m]Norbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_u]Howard[/name_u]
[name_m]Norman[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is genius—love it.
You could go the British route and use the diminutive [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] as a name.
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is a great suggestion! I also really love the name [name_m]Albert[/name_m] as it is, perhaps nn [name_m]Albie[/name_m]?
Other ideas: [name_m]Roald[/name_m] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u].
Both [name_m]Albert[/name_m] and [name_m]Robert[/name_m] means bright so perhaps a name with a similar meaning?
I had the same thought as kjh446- “[name_u]Bert[/name_u]” means bright, so maybe one of these names with a similar meaning:
[name_m]Baer[/name_m]
Charon
[name_f]Eirian[/name_f]
[name_m]Phoebus[/name_m]
Prasad
Savio
[name_m]Ziv[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] would be cute
I love the suggestion of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] as a combination!
What about [name_m]Bertram[/name_m] or [name_m]Bertrand[/name_m]?
My first thought was [name_u]Bert[/name_u] or [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], although if you’re after another name ending in -bert, like someone has suggested, then I think [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] is really cute! Although I’d shorten it to [name_m]Herbie[/name_m] rather than [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] perhaps…
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Ronald[/name_m], [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] would be great!
A -bert name I really like is [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] nn [name_m]Gil[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is great! I also really like [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] since both [name_m]Albert[/name_m] and [name_m]Robert[/name_m] mean “bright”.
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] for [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and [name_m]Albert[/name_m] is a stretch. To be fair, I can’t stand [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], so I’m biased against it. I would consider a variant of [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and/or an [name_m]Al[/name_m] name if no other [name_u]Bert[/name_u] name appeals.
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Robson[/name_m]
[name_m]Hobson[/name_m]
And then there are the more common surnames from [name_m]Robert[/name_m] like [name_m]Robertson[/name_m], [name_m]Robinson[/name_m], [name_m]Roberson[/name_m], etc.
[name_m]Alan[/name_m]
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m]
[name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]
[name_m]Alban[/name_m]
[name_m]Albus[/name_m]
[name_u]Alden[/name_u]
[name_m]Aldo[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
