Name You Love, But Can't Imagine Using

Have you ever found a name that you love, but for one reason or another you can’t imagine using? Alternatively, have you ever had a name that you couldn’t imagine NOT using?

For example, I love the name [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], but I have a hard time picturing myself with a daughter named [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. As beautiful as it is, having a daughter named [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] just doesn’t “go” with how I see myself, if that makes sense.

On the other hand, the name [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] has been on my list for so long that I just can’t imagine not using it, even though it’s never been my absolute favorite name. I’ve grown more attached to the idea of a daughter named [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] than to the name itself, if that makes sense.

So tell me, am I crazy? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any names that you feel that way about?

Wow, this is such an interesting question! It makes perfect sense, and you’re not crazy at all. This has been my experience with many different names, and you’ll probably understand when I say that it’s not even that the name is unusable, but it just doesn’t seem “right”. For example, I love the names [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I can picture myself with children named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. At the same time, I also love the names [name_u]Arya[/name_u] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but having kids with those names just doesn’t seem feasible for me. And, like you said with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (lovely name, btw), when I think about having kids, I imagine them with certain names, and so I become very attached to those names, which in turn makes me like them more even if they wouldn’t have been my favourites originally… etc.
This was really neat to think about. Thanks for bringing it up
I hope this made sense. Pulling an all-nighter for an early flight so sorry if this comes off a bit ramble-y.

I love the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] but can’t see myself with a daughter named that, unfortunately. Same goes with [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Amira[/name_f]. With boys, I’d love to name a son [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m] but I don’t think I’d have the guts. It’s such a beautiful name though so I hope I’ll work up the courage at some point.
