Millikate, I am so envious of your birthday falling on Halloween! I’ll bet you have some great parties! Your natal flower is [name]Fennel[/name]-leafed Tickseed, Coreopsis ferulafolia. The symbolic meaning of Coreopsis (Tickseed) is “Always [name]Cheerful[/name].”
Thank you! I have always loved my birthday - presents, candy, costumes, and trick or treating (when I was a kid) and I have had some awesome parties. This year’s theme is Monster Mash so my house will be filled with monsters, ghosts, goblins, demons, zombies, mummies & witches.
Well, well, isn’t this topic growing, just like Topsy!!! I love it.
And being the obsessive compulsive that I am, I have just been looking up [name]Nephele[/name]'s source books and have managed to track some copies down, and earmarked them for me to buy when I have saved up some pennies. Birthday coming up, so may treat myself then!
Thank you again, [name]Nephele[/name], and your trusty Assistant [name]Karen[/name]. (Have we heard from you before, [name]Karen[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you post often on Nameberry? I am quite new here and don’t always remember everyone’s name)
[name]Ailsa[/name], save your birthday pennies. The older books are in the public domain. In fact, I believe that [name]Marie[/name] [name]Angel[/name]'s book of 1985 is probably copied from the public domain books – although the illustrated text is lovely.
Here’s one place where you can download (for free!) one of these books:
Anybody else who’s interested in downloading the book, you’re welcome to look up your own natal flower and post it here, and then I’ll add you to the Nameberry Birthday List (in the second posting in this topic).
Thank you [name]Nephele[/name]. I know nothing about downloading books. Would it be as good as having a copy in my hand, however? (a bird in the hand being worth two in the bush etc.)
It is nearly midnight here. You can tell my brain cells are deteriorating.

I was posting here a lot in the summer, started some time shortly before you, and then I took a few weeks or a month to get totally obsessed in another website, and then I came back.
I tend to post large walls of text with too few paragraph breaks (I continue to endeavor improving this), where I take streams of consciousness and free association to extreme heights before concluding - and rather than edit it up to get to the point like a normal person, I show my work. I try to curb this habit where appropriate, and feel that I may not have the lists of names to suggest to everyone, and stay away from threads I’m at a loss to contribute.
You have caught me in a somewhat rare position of not knowing anything I was writing about until I looked it up and composed it in real time. Internet hunts are delightful sport and we all learn a lot. Most of the time I just make it up as I go along.
Nice to make your acquaintance and teach you all about the Cape Aletris. Some of the websites I found with the Antiquarian books were my favorite. It’s not my usual thing, but that was a high point in my research.
You sound intriguing [name]Karen[/name], an excellent match for [name]Nephele[/name], and since I asked you that last night, I have found a few of your postings. You are very intense and learned. Look forward to reading more of your long paragraphs!!!
[name]Jacey[/name], your natal flower (Nov. 29th) is Sphenogyne. I’m sorry I couldn’t find a symbolic meaning for this flower, but perhaps [name]Karen[/name] can come up with some information about it for you. I’ve added you to the Birthday List in the second posting in this thread.
Hamstertamer, you share a birthday with Unicorngal! Your natal flower is [name]Yarrow[/name], and you have been added to the Birthday List ([name]Page[/name] 1, second posting in this thread).
Thanks for the bump, Disa_lan! We definitely don’t want to miss anyone’s birthday, and there are still a lot of Nameberryites who haven’t yet been added list ([name]Page[/name] 1, second posting in this topic).
dearest, Your natal flower is the [name]Zinnia[/name] ([name]August[/name] 14th), signifying “Thoughts of absent friends.”
esperrosa, your natal flower is the [name]Snowdrop[/name] (February 2nd), signifying “[name]Hope[/name].”
Another fabulous idea [name]Nephele[/name]! I don’t think you’ll ever run out of ways to inspire us:) I would be delighted if you could make me one; [name]Charlotte[/name] Sep 3rd.
Thank you, Charliehotsox. Your natal flower is the Common Yellow Fleabane (Sept. 3rd). While I couldn’t find a symbolic meaning for your flower, I did discover that it is a medicinal herb – and a pretty one, at that!

That’s good enough for me! Thanks [name]Nephele[/name] oh and btw, would you mind having a look at the latest [name]Ethan[/name] topic? Your ideas last time were great:)
