My friend made a list of her idols including [name_m]Mark[/name_m] [name_m]Rober[/name_m], [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] McGonagall, [name_u]Marie[/name_u] Curie, and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Sanderson[/name_m] :joy:
(two of those are youtubers :joy:)

(not a very relevant nameberry meme, but whatever)

Also…
I don’t know why I always click on users that say it’s the first time they’ve posted, to see if they have user cards, but… I do. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they joined four hours ago and surely wouldn’t have bothered.

Although to be honest, most people are a combination of these. Ya know what, this is actually really interesting- I’m gonna start a thread about these categories now :joy:. Because that’s what I do in life- when anything happens, start a thread.

*random names and thread I made up for the meme

Original Poster: Thoughts on [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]?

All the replies: “I love it!” “So pretty” “Beautiful mix of styles” , and etc.

That ONE Person: Pronunciation will be an issue. I and probably most people pronounce it [name_m]Joe[/name_m]-sef-in-ee but some people say [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]-een

Wait… That ONE person is wrong, right? It’s supposed to be [name_m]Joe[/name_m]-sef-een, right? Or is my life a lie?

yes he or she is wrong!

Your life is safe

Phew! :joy:

The nameberry database says that similar names to Atty include Alphonsina, Agnasina, Agrafina, and Tasoula.

OMG Amberdaydream left a comment on that name and I’ve seen her on this thread (a long time ago!) !!!

AND RAEVYNSTAR!
And [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_m]Pheonix[/name_m]!!!

(I deeply apologize for my tendency to get super excited over things like these)

My first signature: Common names, modeled after @arietta-rose, no combos.

My signature before the new platform: [name_u]Blue[/name_u], no, green. This combo? Oh, wait, no, this one. @jonquils, @Greyblue, @katinka, whyyy are their signatures so beautiful? Whyyy can’t mine be pretty like theirs?!

All this at 12:00 AM, which ends in blue and four italicized combos.

That one berry who replies to every single thread within 20 minutes. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2am or four in the afternoon. You can’t figure out what time zone they are in. They seem to never sleep. You’re not sure they’re human. They tell you to call your daughter [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. You don’t argue.

I think I might be a normal-ist LOL

The nameberry baby name generator just suggested “[name_u]Brayden[/name_u]” as something similar to [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] and [name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]. :woman_facepalming:

Whenever people are that concerned about pronunciation I want to tell them about my teachers who always asked “DAY-vid or DAH-vid?”, “PET-rick or PAHT-rick?”, “joe-se-FEEN or YO-seh-FEE-neh?” and every. single. one. said “Either. I don’t care.”

They’re not wrong about [name_m]Nimrod[/name_m]. It’s actually a (dare I say rare?) positive example of wiki entries.

This, on the other hand:

Meaning apparently depends on the site and on one site it differs with spelling (“cattle” on the left, “the flattering one” on the right, with the text below specifying that “[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] from the Bible means precious goatling” - as opposed to? the other [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] that does not come from the bible!? wtf!?)

What?

teachers a long time ago had a very easy time spelling and pronouncing names but a different problem:

(random names and class I made up)
Classlist from 1923:
[name_m]Bob[/name_m] Andrews
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] Clarkson
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Gardenia[/name_f]
[name_m]Joe[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Bob[/name_m] White
[name_m]Joe[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m]
[name_m]Joe[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]

Teachers today have less of a problem distinguishing people without using last initials (but still a bit), but they have a different problem
(again, random classlist I made up)

classlist from 2020:
Tomhase Andrews
Gaidn [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_m]Barnett[/name_m]
