The [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] fan in me suddenly LOVES the idea of naming a kid [name_m]Albus[/name_m] nn [name_m]Albie[/name_m].
Also I’ve been meaning to comment this forever but could never find the GIF, but I found it on youtube…
My reaction when my cousin named her baby Brystle, or when an old acquaintance used Binlee (both because they’re so original!).
[name_u]Love[/name_u] this!
Is [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] too dated?
OP: [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the name [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Leontine[/name_f] [name_f]Pernella[/name_f] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] is a bit much? Our surname is [name_m]Smith[/name_m], which the most common surname in the English speaking world, so we’re looking for forenames that will ensure our daughter isn’t one of many with the same FULL name (not just first + surname). If we just went with [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], well there could well be another [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] out there, and that just wouldn’t do.
Oh I know!
And the ones who post on a really old advice thread, offering their opinion on the name, and I sit there thinking “the child is probably 3 or 4 now, you’re a bit late!”
Berries: “There’s a lot of spam and our experience here is frustrating and annoying because it is constant. Here’s a ton of great ideas and solutions to try.”
Mods: “We try to delete as fast as we can.”
Berries: “[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I researched/took the time to list a bunch of great ideas. Thanks.”
“You like [name_u]Harper[/name_u]…ON A GIRL??? Oh my goodness no, it’s a boy’s name and that just won’t do. What’s that? YOU LIKE [name_u]DARCY[/name_u] AS WELL?? It’s so masculine! No.”
Me: backs away slowly and hides my lists for eternity
(I honestly fear this might happen LOL)
Is [name_m]Frank[/name_m] too girly?
Me: I love [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]-lyn.
random poster1: No, that’s totally wrong, it’s [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-lin!
Me: I hate [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-lin. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]-lyn?
random poster2: What about [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-lin?
This above droves me nuts, since I really love [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]-lyn, but I don’t know how to spell it.
OP: I like the name [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], but not the pronunciation, I want to pronounce it lye-lee-an. What do you think?
Me: If you don’t like the pronunciation, then surely you don’t like the name?! <baffled face>
This one is me
Being very glad you’re mum works with kids so you get to hear everyone in the areas new babies names very quickly. and that my brother is still in primary school to see the names of school aged kids.
random poster3: Isn’t it prn. [name_f]Roz[/name_f]-a-uh-line???
random poster4: Ohmigoodness, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] (though only prn. rossa-leen.)
OP: DD3 is due soon and we [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Only problem is, our other two daughters are called [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], do you think the names are too close?
Berries: Yes, way too close, what the heck were you thinking?!
OP: Thanks guys, that’s what I thought too, so we’ve decided to get around it by calling her Aleezibyth to avoid confusion.
Berries: Wait, on second thoughts, the names aren’t too close at all! [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a lovely name, definitely use that.
Is [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] too colour related?
This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life. I cried.
Omg! I somehow stumbled upon this forum and started reading it… and when I got to this post I laughed so much , I nearly woke up my son! That’s great.
