Me: I’m finally going to switch up my signature and add some new names to the list!
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] names: stare at me
Me: I… I can do this…
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] names: But what about us? [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t you love us?
Me: Of course! Maybe I can make it all fit…
Nameberry: Your signature cannot exceed 500 characters excluding BB markup.
Me:… Okay, I’ll just change the font or something…
Me: “Our list only has 41 names on it…i hate numbers that don’t end in 0 or 5…i love all these names on our list too, hmm…oh, I know, I’ll add 4 more!!!”
2 hours later
Me: “250 names…well, that’s shorter than my last girls list!”
Me: Ok I have my lists fully balanced with awesome meanings and all the names I found doing genealogy research into both sides of my family. I think they’re finally done
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: What about any future SO and his names?
~Self parody~
*makes post about wanting to cut down names on list/form new combos/seeking feedback on names
*Berries give feedback…the good, bad, the ugly, the constructive, personal insights
*Me: thankful, mulls over the feedback
*Also me: really doesn’t cut down list in real life, just finds more excuses to keep the not-so-favorite names of the Berries on list
*feels guilty
*eventually posts another thread asking for the same thing as last time
(note: now that I say this, I’m probably never going to get responses on my question threads ever again lol)
Our TRIPLETS have arrived! [name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to the world [name_u]Poet[/name_u] [name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f] Sunbeam, [name_f]Kismet[/name_f] [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] Amour and [name_f]Whisper[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u] Ylang-Ylang!!
Me: Hey I should write my signature, I mean, I got some favourites, it’s not gonna be that hard…
Me: tries to put my list together for about four hours, drops and adds circa 400 names, doesn’t make any worthy combos and utterly fails … Welp, so that’s about it.
OP: We’re looking for names for our upcoming baby. Names must be over four syllables, start with the letters S or B, and end in either an “A” or a “T”. Also, it must go well with siblings names: [name_u]Kayden[/name_u], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], and EllieKay!
Me: doesn’t go on Nameberry for almost 2 months, has successfully escaped the lifestyle of spending hours upon hours curating names that I will never use
Me: encounters a nice name I’ve never heard
Me: Oh no… It’s happening… pushes up my glassesdusts off all of my well-loved name booksstares at my computer researching names into the wee hours of the morninglectures my friends and family on the origin and usage of every name I hear
Me: “yay! I have my favourites down to about 15 names!”
Me: remembers S/O has his own favourites that are not on my list
Me: dramatic sigh “well I guess I could add a few of his”
Contrary to popular belief, British name posts on name sites could also potentially encompass those who are not upper-class white English living in [name_m]Kensington[/name_m].
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: Describing a book, didn’t know how to say Briseis
Me: It’s Brih-[name_m]SAY[/name_m]-iss
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: Oh! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know the book?
Me: Er… no, I just know the name haha
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: Talking about a character …and [name_m]Artemus[/name_m]
Me: hearing [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] Wait, wait, [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] girl or [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] boy?
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: No, [name_m]Artemus[/name_m], for a boy
Me: With a U?
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]: Yeah
Me: OMG THANK YOU is so very proud and goes on rant about how irritating [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] on a boy is especially when there are other, legitimate non goddess versions
paraphrased version of something a favourite youtuber of mine said
