Following the example of @Luminen, who did the same for Finnish names, I’m putting my Icelandic names to the test and I’m letting NB chose my top 10. I’ve selected my 20 favorites from each gender. They’re in no particular order in the poll as to not influence your opinion :wink:

Pronunciations are below. I’ve included the ones I believe aren’t clear for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to ask for more pronunciations, or more information if you want it :slightly_smiling_face: In Icelandic the stress is always on the first syllable.

Edit: the pronunciation of Merkúr is mer-koor… I made a mistake in the original post and can’t edit it after two minutes.

Me too. But in general I’ve noticed that non-Scandivian people always go for the ones that seem most familiar to them, so I can take a guess at the results. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s only human :wink:

I’ve been looking forward to this Icelandic edition! So many great names on the list, I could have voted for all of them! I love Freymundur, totally forgotten about it actually, and I can totally imagine myself having a lil Freymundur running around. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Haha, yep - I’m not surprised by the names in the lead just now :wink: (I mean, I’m guilty and voted for them too. They’re lovely!)

I’ve never heard of most of these names, but I think they’re almost all really gorgeous! This was so interesting, thanks for doing it.
