i think is probably pretty common. fiction from books or tv is often how we are exposed to a wide range of names, and i don’t think theres anything wrong with it unless you’re thinking of like, [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m].
My mom likes to joke that my brother was named after [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Jennings[/name_m], because all she ever watched was the news. Not sure if that’s actually who he was named after. She also says i’m not named after her sister [name_f]Carol[/name_f], but can you have a sister named something, and name your daughter the same thing and have it not be related to that? However she did have five sisters and [name_f]Carol[/name_f] was the quiet one, maybe she forgot.
So, so, so many. I’ve gathered quite a list now. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] quickly ended up in my top 10 after I watched Downton, and I even have [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] as a middle. I’ve just finished American Horror [name_u]Story[/name_u], which made me love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] enough to put on my list, and reawakened my love for [name_u]Rory[/name_u], and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] too a bit. Characters can really make me absolutely love names, and are an added bonus that can make me want to use a name more if anything, as long as I like the character.
I love almost any name I can shorten to “[name_m]Cas[/name_m]”, due to Supernatural. I love [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] (gp or middle name), and a few names from Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] as well. Also, Tabitha, from Bewitched, which I watched on DVD when I was very young.
