So my boyfriend and I are newly pregnant and whilst I don’t want to jinx things I have been thinking about names because we have a little bit of a problem. I like what I would call vintage, British, cottage core , maybe a few French names thrown in too with a little twist type names and he likes more…I don’t really get his style.
I like Tabitha, Jemima, Primrose, Cordelia, Marigold, Lorelei, Manon, Anais, Emmeline, Elowen, and Ophelia.
He likes, and I quote: “Mia is quite nice and I like Freya and Cara.”
Now I could get on board with Freya except it’s quite popular in Scotland (where we live). He has expressed an interest in using Scottish and Polish names (his mum is Polish).
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] (or the [name_u]French[/name_u] Elaine)
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
Blair(e)
[name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] (I also like the [name_u]French[/name_u] Yvette)
[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
Polish I like and could work:
[name_f]Genia[/name_f]
[name_f]Faustina[/name_f]
[name_f]Kasia[/name_f] (same meaning and root as Cara)
[name_f]Lidia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcelina[/name_f] may bridge both of your styles (or Marceline). [name_u]Or[/name_u] perhaps [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] (nn Tosha) could work for you?
To be honest, I don’t think your styles are all too dissimilar! I think you can come to an agreement. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the pp suggestion of [name_f]Frida[/name_f]! I think that would fit both of your styles well.
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] (really love this one for you!)
[name_f]Halina[/name_f]
Frøya
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
Isolde/Iseult
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilias[/name_f]
[name_f]Sorcha[/name_f]
[name_f]Catriona[/name_f]
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Jocasta[/name_f]
[name_f]Marsali[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a nice nickname option, or even the more Eastern European: [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
Maybe a longer name with a nickname that he loves would blend your styles…
For Mia/Mila:
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maelys[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
or maybe he would like one of these nicknames:
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] “Mina, [name_f]Willa[/name_f], Minnie”
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] “Winnie, Ella”
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] “Cordy, Delia”
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] “Lola”
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] “Molly, [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], Maisie”
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] “Romy”
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] “Fern, [name_f]Fay[/name_f], Frankie”
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite choices for you are [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] (Nora), [name_f]Philipa[/name_f] (Pippa), and [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] (Hattie/Etta). They are Polish, to honor your boyfriend’s mum, but also seem to fit your lovey vintage/cottage core name aesthetic. Additionally, they all have darling nicknames that seem to fit your boyfriend’s “short and sweet” name style. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
Perhaps you could come to a compromise by using some names that are popular in Poland but fit your style more?
[name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] are all top 100 names in Poland that might be to your taste.
I think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] would be great for you - similar to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] which you like and could have the nn [name_f]Mia[/name_f].
