Names ending with an S or Z sound?

I find I like names that end in an S or Z sound or contain a S, but sounds like a z. For me and the way I say [name]Mercedes[/name] (mer-say-deez). Is [name]Mercedes[/name] too car related for a name now? I don’t like [name]Reece[/name], but I do like [name]Mercedes[/name], names things not so common for me. Plus I don’t like the candy association. Where I live it seems are just stuck on names like [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Jaden[/name] (bleh). Can you find names ending those sounds? I like…
[name]Ceres[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name]
What about Beatrice? I love the nickname “my little bumble [name]Bee[/name]” without having the “[name]Beat[/name]+[name]Rice[/name]” connection, but I like that it was a daughter of [name]Queen[/name] [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name].

***p.s. this is just playing with ideas, I am NOT expecting.

Hmm, what about:
[name]Clarisse[/name]/[name]Clarice[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Matisse[/name]

That’s about all I can think of! I think the “S” endings are more popular for boys ([name]Linus[/name], [name]Elias[/name], [name]Jonas[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Matthias[/name], etc.). I think Beatriu is really cute. It sounds quite Romanian to me, for some reason. I think it’s really refreshing, sweet, and spunky. The information I saw on it said it’s supposed to be pronounced [name]BEE[/name]-ah-true, which I like even more. I think she could be [name]Bea[/name] or [name]Tru[/name], both of which are really cute!

[name]Demetra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is nice. I absolutely love [name]Josephine[/name], and no, it’s moved way past [name]Napoleon[/name]'s wife. I think [name]Josephine[/name] is a lovely MN option! Unless your LN is relatively short, though, I would consider pairing either [name]Demetra[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] with a shorter name. [name]Demetra[/name] is nice… just not my thing. It’s too connected to mythology for me, although I do like [name]Demi[/name] as a nn.

Good luck!

[name]Marice[/name]

The other ones I had were already said.

There are tons of other names I could think of. I hope this helps:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Annis[/name]
[name]Avis[/name]
Bellis
[name]Berenice[/name]
[name]Carys[/name]
[name]Cerys[/name]
[name]Corliss[/name]
[name]Dolores[/name]
[name]Dorcas[/name]
[name]Doris[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Eunice[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Gladys[/name]
[name]Glynnis[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Hollis[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Isis[/name]
[name]Joyce[/name]
[name]Lois[/name]
[name]Louise[/name]
Lovelace
[name]Maris[/name]
[name]Mavis[/name]
[name]Nerys[/name]
[name]Myrtis[/name]
[name]Patience[/name]
[name]Phyllis[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Temperance[/name]

My name ends in an S - It’s [name]Glenys[/name]

I have a daughter [name]Beatrice[/name], so I am definitely partial to that one

My favorite name that ends in an s sound is [name]Carys[/name] (or [name]Cerys[/name])

[name]Beatrice[/name] is a name well loved by many on this board, it’s a fine name but I guess nms.

[name]Iris[/name] is also getting a lot of attention these days.

Let’s see…
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Felice[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Beatriz[/name]
[name]Inez[/name]
[name]Patrice[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]

I do like:
[name]Beatriz[/name]
[name]Inez[/name]-(Ie-nezz or ee-nez?)
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Corliss[/name]
[name]Maris[/name]
[name]Nerys[/name]- really cute b/c it sounds like “near us” the way I say it.
[name]Lourdes[/name]- I heart this one, but [name]Madonna[/name] got to it be4 me :frowning:
[name]Artemis[/name]

boo on celebrity’s taking [name]Lourdes[/name] :frowning:

Keep going!

[name]Iris[/name]! [name]One[/name] of my favorites.

I was also going to suggest [name]Inez[/name] (ee-NEZ), also spelled [name]Ynez[/name] or [name]Ines[/name]

An offbeat option is [name]Topaz[/name] or
[name]Alexis[/name]
[name]Anais[/name] (an-eye-eece) or [name]Thais[/name] (tie-eece) both with the double dot i
[name]Candice[/name]
[name]Cypress[/name]
Or the latest [name]Katniss[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]

Or names with nicknames ending in a z sound
[name]Rosalyn[/name] ([name]Roz[/name])

[name]Alexis[/name], [name]Anais[/name], [name]Candice[/name], => I don’t like these b/c I don’t like X’s and [name]Candice[/name] isn’t unusual enough, and [name]Anais[/name] would be pronounced wrong constantly.
[name]Cypress[/name], [name]Katniss[/name], and [name]Tess[/name] are okay, but they’re associated with other people or things for me.
I do [name]LOVE[/name] that [name]Rosalyn[/name] has an S that makes the sound of the Z, however I would maybe spell it, [name]Ro[/name](s or z)aline (maybe).

I really like [name]Inez[/name], [name]Cypress[/name], and [name]Katniss[/name]. [name]Rosalyn[/name] is nice, it just has that popular -lyn ending I don’t like.

[name]Bernice[/name] was the first one I thought of.

I have met a teenage girl named [name]Diamond[/name] [name]Mercedes[/name].

[name]Therese[/name] - the French pronunciation ends in a “z” sound but you can also pronounce it with an ending “s” sound

[name]Alice[/name] was another daughter of queen [name]Victoria[/name].
