Names for a futuristic/sci-fi story

I’m working on a science fiction story that takes place 50 years from now. I need names that aren’t uncommon, yet not unheard of. What do you think of these?

Main character:

Traits/general info- twelve-year-old girl, very curious, slight rebelious streak, very much her own person, never cares what anyone thinks about her, intellegent, but always getting in trouble at school because she’s always goofing off or talking.

Names I’m considering-

[name]Bellatrix[/name] (I’m shortining this one to [name]Trixie[/name])- My concern with this one is the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] namesake.
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Evangelina[/name] (I’m shortining this one to [name]Evan[/name])
[name]Hayden[/name]

Main characters best friend/partner in crime:

Traits/general info:

Same gender and age as my MC, but practicly the opposite personallity. She’s scared to get in trouble, and extreamaly shy.

Names I’m considering-

[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Peyton[/name]
[name]Tiana[/name]

There are other characters, of course, but they’re named already. Thanks everyone!

Of the girls names, I really only like [name]Evangelina[/name] for this.

I would also consider [name]Dania[/name], [name]Brylee[/name], [name]Azaria[/name], or [name]Dixie[/name].

For the second girl, I like [name]Maeve[/name] a little. I feel like all of the names are just too now.
[name]Damaris[/name], [name]Damara[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Mina[/name], or [name]Nola[/name]

I really like [name]Hayden[/name] for a main character.
She sounds spunky and like a tomboy, yet the name still has the good kind feminine to it.
Not to much but just enough to give room for character development and all of the types of things a reader loves in a character.
Someone that you’ve chosen and hopefully the reader will come to care about that someone as the story progresses.

For your second character I would suggest :

[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Rita[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
Melee
[name]Jessy[/name]
[name]Renee[/name]

I wish you the best for your writing!

~ Periwinkle - Your fellow Sci-Fi writer who loves to see WORDS from chapter to chapter printed out in crowded paragraphs.

If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasen’t been written yet, then you must write it. - [name]Toni[/name] [name]Morrison[/name]

The best time for planning a book is while you’re doing the dishes. - [name]Agatha[/name] [name]Christie[/name]

I love the name [name]Evangelina[/name] for the main character and maeve for her friend. Good luck

Since this is 50 years in the future, maybe you could consider the 100 year rule? So if it’s 50 years from now, the 100 year rule would apply to names from the 60’s/70’s.

With that, here’s some choices for the MC:
[name]Lori[/name]
[name]Christine[/name]
[name]Teresa[/name]
[name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Jaqueline[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name]
[name]Colleen[/name]

My favorite’s are [name]Diana[/name] nn [name]Di[/name], [name]Andrea[/name] nn [name]Andi[/name], [name]Teresa[/name] nn [name]Tess[/name], and [name]Jaqueline[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name].

MC’s best friend:
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Susan[/name]
[name]Kimberly[/name]
[name]Julie[/name]
[name]Angela[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Stephanie[/name]
[name]Maria[/name]
[name]Valerie[/name]

Favorites are [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Susan[/name] (I know a girl with this and I think it’s really nice), [name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name], or [name]Valerie[/name] nn [name]Val[/name].

Yeah, I know some of these totally scream do not use (at least for me) but remind yourself that if names like [name]Helen[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], etc are coming back, these names very well might in 50 years.

[name]Hope[/name] I helped and I wish you luck!
