[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are TTC… IF it works out this cycle, we will end up with a Pisces child. Most of the names I have come up with are strong names that I don’t think would be a comfortable match for a child with this disposition.
Please give me some name options for a sweet little girl who will grow into a very compassionate woman. A bit of a dreamer. Please avoid names that are overly frilly. We like classic names but would prefer to stay out of the top 100 (at least).
Ps. No need to tell me I’m crazy with this zodiac stuff… my husband already has
Lots of great names on your list. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] and have suggested [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] to my husband but so far he has vetoed it. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is actually a contender for a middle name since it’s a family name for us. [name_f]Francine[/name_f] is a great suggestion since we are also considering [name_f]Frances[/name_f] for a middle (also a family name)
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] are favorites of mine but too popular for us to use
I like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] ([name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is too french for our last name) and [name_f]Helen/name_f a lot.
[name_f]My[/name_f] little [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is literally the sweetest child ever placed on this earth (and of course I’m not biased at all). But really, everyone she meets comments on how sweet she is. So for me, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is the ultimate “sweet” name. Others that have that same feeling:
I am a Pisces and honestly think that a stronger / edgy name might have made me feel a little less sensitive and more confident as a child. I am still very quiet on the outside and prefer books to people. Maybe consider that a soft name might make her feel somewhat small and harder to notice in a sea of loud children.
Oh that’s interesting. I didn’t think of it that way… I’m definitely not looking for a name that is too simple… I’m hoping to find a name that a Pisces would feel comfortable in and really love - Something lovely rather than sturdy. For example, [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Judith[/name_f].
I’m a Virgo and would have preferred a more formal name than I have so I’m worried about giving my kids names that are a bad fit for their disposition…
Sorry but I don’t think you’re crazy, I also pay a lot of attention to the ‘zodiac stuff’ myself! And not necessarily the sweet, soft, girly and sensitive name would make a baby be like that in the future… 'cause it’s the meaning that counts, right?.. So, nice names for a pisces girl:
(already mentioned) [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
(not mentioned) [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] (seems to be my crush lately), [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Elisa[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Selena[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]…
I’m a little strange myself in that I categorize my names by personality a bit, so I already have a bunch of names on my list that fit this description. I’m also not into super frilly names either. At least they aren’t to me.
Sweet gentle little girl names from my list:

As far as popularity goes, sure you could avoid the top 100 but that really ends up being pointless most of the time. I’m not sure what you are trying to avoid by avoiding popular names but the strategy is a little different for each. The most common concerns I hear are, 1) not wanting the child to be one of many in the classroom and go by first name last initial or 2) wanting the child to be unique. I’m going to guess it’s due mostly to #1 because you only picked the first 100 instead of a larger number. Rest assured that even if you were to pick the number one name, possibility one isn’t even that likely. The number one name today is nothing like the number one name from when we were young. However, staying out of the top 100 won’t even guarantee that won’t happen because naming isn’t spread out evenly over the population. There is a concentration of name trends. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any little babies, kids in the area? If your favorite names are popular in your area then it may be a good idea to stay out of say…the top 20 in your state (assuming you are in the US) and that’s about as good as it gets. After that it’s just that you happen to be in some sort of weird naming trend pocket. If most of the babies in your area seem to have names that aren’t in your taste, then you have to worry about popularity even less.
So I highly recommend checking out your state stats, especially if you don’t know many little ones in your area.
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] has been on my radar too but i’m highly doubtful my husband would be good with it. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is nice, I was also thinking [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], I’ll see what my husband thinks!
I totally hear what you’re saying about the top names actually being a very small percentage of actual names given. I’m going to ask my friends with younger children to see if the names I like are popular in our area.
Thanks for all the great name ideas…
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband loves [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and I’m not sure why I don’t. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is also lovely, I was thinking [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. I’m glad to hear you feel it falls in this category of names. I love [name_f]Greta[/name_f], but I’m not sure if it’s a name we could pull off. I’ll have to think about it more.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. Simply because I have a little niece named [name_f]Francine[/name_f] and she is a Pisces. Sweet, calm, artistic and precious as can be!
I love the previous suggestions of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], Cecillia & [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (in top 100 :/)
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] (feels modern but was a Biblicial name)
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
I think this is a very cool way of looking for a name. When I think of a sweet little girl who will grow into a very compassionate woman, here are some names that come to mind.
