We’re just about to hit the 36 week mark and our two little princesses might make their way into the world at any given moment! These past nine months have just flown by, and we still are not 100% positive on the names for the girls! We’re new to all this! So far, the name combinations we have are:
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] (pronounced: aak-TAIV-ee-uh jAWr-jee-AA-nuh) nn [name_f]Avie[/name_f]
and
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (pronounced: uh-less-EE-uh car-OH-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nuh) nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f]
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think these names are too “out there”? We don’t want the girls to be made fun of by other kids when they’re old enough to go to school. If you think they’re too extravagant/old ladyish/or have any other reason why you don’t like the names, what would you suggest? ([name_m]Just[/name_m] a bit about us, our last name is [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] so we definitely want some longer first name/middle name pairings, with a cute nickname. Our names [[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u]] are so standard and we want names that will stick out but not be too trendy/“out there”. We also would prefer really feminine names!)
Massive coincidence but my [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] combo atm is [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] definitely fits in with stand out but also fit in memo and is feminine, pretty and elegant and has the most awesome nicknames, my own nickname list for [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] includes [name_f]Essie[/name_f] but also Lessa, [name_f]Aly[/name_f], [name_f]Sia[/name_f] [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f] etc. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] has a beautiful grandeur to her, but it is definitely much more of an out there name when paired with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], it works as a twinset well though.
My one “concern” so to speak is that all 4 of the names end with the uh sound, which can sound lovely and melodic but often sounds too rhymey to really work. [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]/ [name_f]Georgianne[/name_f] might be some alternatives.
Other suggestions for first names in place of [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] (or in general:
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]/[name_u]Cataleya[/name_u] “[name_f]Cate[/name_f]” or “[name_u]Tali[/name_u]”: it’s my own pairing for [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], they sound so princessy and exotic when paired together.
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] “[name_f]Lula[/name_f]”
[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] “[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]”: playing on the A thing, since [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] starts with an A and so does [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], the girls could have a theme
[name_f]Zaria[/name_f] “[name_u]Ari[/name_u]”
[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] “[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/Corazon “[name_f]Cora[/name_f]”: around the same popularity level as [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] but similar to well known and well used names.
[name_f]Aviana[/name_f] “[name_f]Avie[/name_f]”: very similar but less of the extravagance of [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. Also, the A thing.
I really like [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] (however, I’ve only heard [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] pronounced with the stress on the second syllable in Italian). I don’t think they are too old lady - at least, they don’t have that connotation where I live. Personally, I would choose shorter middle names as I think they would flow better but if those middle names speak to you, I don’t see any issues with them.
I love [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! So pretty and [name_f]Essie[/name_f] is so sweet. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] isn’t a personal fave but it’s a nice name and I love [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
I think they are absolutely lovely together! Your little girl twins’s names are a gift of beauty and confidence. If I had twins named [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] & [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] in my classroom, I would totally adore them! (Although I’m not a teacher…just imagining!)
Go for it…IMHO, these names are superior to all the made-up names or the trendy [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] and all the McNames.
I love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] I think it has a very classic, feminine, British feel to it. Personally [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] sounds more American (nothing wrong with that of course!) but as a pairing I personally think [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] could be a more classic, but equally as unique alternative.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] & [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] are stunning together! I think both are beautiful, strong, sweet names. I like that they’re unexpected, but familiar. I also think they sound great together (and I agree with a pp - if I had twins named [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] & [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] in my class I’d be thrilled and in love with the names!)
Also, [name_f]Avie[/name_f] + [name_f]Essie[/name_f] are so, so cute!
I dont think either name is too “out there,” I think they’re right on trend with other popular names (but still unique in a good way, and not trendy at all)
I also dont see either name as “old lady”! [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] reminds me of the up and coming new singer, and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] reminds me of a character on the tv show The 100. So both names seem very fresh and new! (Also, if you dont know either of these, they’re both great associations! I dont think they’re well known enough though that anyone will associate the names with them, anyway)
Congratulations on the twins, and good luck with the naming!!
I love both of them! You’ve done a wonderful job with the combos. [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are such different names but they still work together so well.
I don’t think [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] or [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] are too out there at all! [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] is actually on my own shortlist.
I think having both first and middle names being so long and all ending in -a makes the names a bit of a mouthful and maybe a touch too frilly, perhaps shorter variations on the middles? (Of course if you love the middles absolutely as is then stick with them and disregard my advice!)
I would suggest
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Georgette[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ([name_f]Corinne[/name_f] would be pretty too)
