Here’s our (my) list so far. I’m looking to add more names but am feeling a bit uninspired at the moment. We’ve talked about using a few of these [name_m]IRL[/name_m] but I haven’t gotten his opinion on the others. Please comment and feel free to suggest others. Ideally, I want something not too common but not unheard of, either. Trendy names are ‘in’ in my area so I’d like to get something that stands out, but is refreshing, not polarizing (I love [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] but I think it’s a bit polarizing).
Some are family names… I think the front-runner is [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] for a boy.
My [name_m]BIL[/name_m] is [name_m]Martin[/name_m]. On baby name boards, people always say, “Oh, but I don’t like the nn [name_u]Marty[/name_u].” I can assure you my [name_m]BIL[/name_m] is as far away from the nn [name_u]Marty[/name_u] you can get! He’s never been called [name_u]Marty[/name_u] a day in his life because it’s just not him. He’s a quiet, creative type and the name suits him well.
I like all of your list. I think I prefer Wilhemina to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], actually. The nn [name_f]Mina[/name_f] is quite usable in every day life, better than [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Oh, I’ve been thinking of [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] lately but I’m not sure my boyfriend would go for it! The only thing that makes me hesitant is that there are no nicknames that I like.
I love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] especially with the nn [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]. I was going to suggest [name_m]George[/name_m] but then I noticed it was on your list. I love the combo of [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. Other suggestions: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
I like [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], too. I guess it just depends on whether SO wants to use [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] as a first name or not. It’s his dad’s middle name so it’s completely up to him.

I’m having a baby boy [name_u]December[/name_u] 2013. But my top name if it were going to be a girl was [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. My top for a boy right now is [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]?

I like [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] although [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is rising up the charts which may not be a factor for you. The other names are kind of old guy names and really nms.
@seazuno86 – [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]'s actually on my list, too. Guess I should write all of the names down so I don’t have to try and remember everything. [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] and [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] are nice, too. I think I prefer [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] because I prefer [name_m]Brody[/name_m] over [name_m]Rod[/name_m] or [name_m]Rick[/name_m] for [name_m]Roderick[/name_m]. I sort of like [name_m]Victor[/name_m] but I know it’s not a name SO would go for. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is a family name but it used on two uncles that I’m not close to so I wouldn’t use it.
@jupiter77 – Congrats on your baby boy! [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is awesome, I’ll have to suggest [name_m]Leo[/name_m] to SO. I also like [name_m]Leopold[/name_m]. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely!
@koralreef – I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but it’s the name of SO’s nephew and I know he doesn’t want to use a name already used by a niece/nephew, which is why he vetoed [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_u]August[/name_u] has potential!
I love the name [name_u]August[/name_u] and wish my DH would go for it but for some reason to him it sounds like a girls name. He also thinks [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is a girls name so I have a battle ahead of me. Haha

I also love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] nn [name_m]Fred[/name_m] from your list because my grandfather’s name was [name_m]Fred[/name_m] but I think that is why it seems like an older gentleman’s name and not a baby’s name.
That’s where I’m at with [name_m]Harold[/name_m]. It totally fits my style but it still feels like an old man’s name because it was my great-uncle’s name.
