What names do you love from different forms of entertainment? [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they’re ridiculous or you’d never use them!
Hubby and I both like the name Roxas, a character from the video game Kingdom Hearts. Also, he recently suggested [name_f]Freya[/name_f] for a girl, which he heard from another game, but I don’t recall which.
I have a friend named Kirdan, which is a respelling of the name of an elf in The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] if the Rings books. He has a sister named Galadriel.
I think it’d be awesome to use [name_u]Rue[/name_u] or [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] or even [name_f]Katniss[/name_f] from Hunger Games.
I’m sure I could think of more. What are some of your favorites?
I dread a television show or movie (or game now that you’ve brought that to my attention) giving a character one of the names that I love. I mind books far less, though I’d hate for something along the lines of the Twilight series to give a character a name I love; that’s about the equivalent of tv. First, there’s the problem of too many people jumping on the bandwagon for that name (often without having any clue about what made it great to begin with). Second, there’s the problem of the person who already liked it now being stuck reconsidering the name in light of its new, pop culture baggage. X2 when a celebrity adopts the name for an offspring.
I loved [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] nn Finny for half my life (thank you A Separate [name_u]Peace[/name_u]); I was appalled and extremely disappointed when I learned there was a cartoon character who had been named [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. My neighbors’ kids wanted to name their dog [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], and I was delighted until I discovered it was because of some stupid cartoon.
[name_u]Madigan[/name_u]. I saw a kids tv show when I was younger that had a girl called this. It was until later that I realised her fn name was actually [name_f]Garland[/name_f] and Maddigan (I’d got the spelling wrong) was her surname, but I still really love [name_u]Madigan[/name_u] for a girls fn. I also have a bit of a soft spot for LOTR names
[name_u]Reeve[/name_u] has been my favorite boy name since I read A Face on the Milk Carton when I was like 10.
Really like [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] but have pretty much decided not to use it.

My husband loved the name Namira from Skyrim (the sound, not the fact that she is the goddess of decay or whatever) and we eventually got to [name_f]Mira[/name_f] by deciding that we wouldn’t want to use Namira or Nameera.
My husband LOVES fantasy book/movie/game names. There are a few of those I like but that really is his niche.
He is set on Ender (as in, Ender Wiggin) if we have a boy.
He also loves Zivilyn, from Skies of [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] & Tyrian from Game of Thrones.
There are loads more but those are his absolute faves.
I like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], from the Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] & [name_m]Kingsley[/name_m] (although [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] ruined it for me, I like it in reference to The Life Aquatic).
And we did name our daughter Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender). Most (non nerdy) people don’t know the association since its not as well known as LOTR or something and we REALLY love the name, so we went for it.

I adore [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], and I personally think it could be quite usable. It’s a ‘rose’ name, which are always lovely, and it has the feel of ‘[name_f]Prudence[/name_f]’ mixed with a nature-y feel. I love it!
I know that most Berries loathe [name_f]Katniss[/name_f], but I’m a closet fan From other books, my favourites are [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] ([name_f]Narnia[/name_f]), [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] ([name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]), [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] ([name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m], the [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] Bone children’s series) and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] ([name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland).
I would love love love to use [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] for a little girl. My fiancee has nixed [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and I’ll never live it down if I suggest [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]!
I agree with morgantaylore, I think [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] would be a great name.
Another name that I became very fond of is Tamina (from [name_m]Prince[/name_m] of [name_u]Persia[/name_u]). I’m not sure if I would use it but I do know that when it does come time for me to have a little girl, I want her to have a ‘T’ name. So…
