I used to absolutely detest the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Then, I read The Time [name_u]Traveller[/name_u]'s Wife and it completely changed how I felt about the name. Unfortunately, I named one of my cats [name_m]Henry[/name_m], so it is, of course, out of the running as we try to choose names for our upcoming [name_f]February[/name_f] baby.

Starting with the names I discovered from songs:

I have fallen for a lot of characters’ names that previous posters have already mentioned, but I think the most surprising ones for me were [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (from Once Upon a Time) and [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] (from [name_f]Xena[/name_f]:Warrior [name_f]Princess[/name_f]). I never cared much for either of those names until I watched those shows, but when I fell in love with the characters I fell for the names with them! Now they’re in my top favorite names, but I’m sure that never would have happened if I didn’t love those characters as much as I do. I also like the (middle) name [name_u]Joan[/name_u] solely because of my fondness for [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_m]Jett[/name_m] :).

I’ve fallen in love with way too many names because of books, movies and TV shows, but I promise I’ll try to keep the list as short as possible! :smiley:

I fell in love with the name [name_f]Regina[/name_f] because of the TV show Once Upon a Time and I later found out that it’s also the name of one of my great-great-grandmothers on my mother’s side of the family, so if anyone ever asks me where I got that name from, I can say it’s a family name instead of admitting that I’m just a giant nerd! Also, I really liked the name [name_f]Emma[/name_f] before starting that series, but now I love it even more.

The [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] series made me fall in love with the names [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], Merope and [name_f]Minerva[/name_f], although they’re pretty much all “guilty pleasure” names, and also with [name_m]Amos[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Remus[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronald[/name_m]. Honestly, I like basically every name that comes from that series, I’m TOO obsessed with [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].

The series [name_m]How[/name_m] to Get Away with Murder totally made me appreciate the names [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] a lot!

And now, some weird ones: I started loving the name [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] after watching Hotel Transylvania, I fell in love with the name [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] when I watched Frozen and I began to appreciate the name [name_f]Angela[/name_f] after watching The Office, even though that character is disliked by lots of fans of the show (and I can really see why).
