Hello all!
DH feels very strongly about naming our first born in honor of his Uncle [name]Leonard[/name], who has no middle name. We both dislike [name]Leo[/name], [name]Leon[/name], and [name]Len[/name]/[name]Lenny[/name]. While we’re ok with [name]Leonardo[/name], we feel like it would sound ridiculous for our obviously non-Italian child.
Our girls names are more promising:
[name]Leona[/name] (Hubby’s favorite…maybe it will grow on me)
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Leanora[/name]
[name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
So, which girl’s name is your favorite? [name]Do[/name] you have any favorite pairings with them? And are there any boy names we’re overlooking? Last question-- what do you think of [name]Leo[/name] as a girl nn?
Well for boys names, [name]Leonard[/name] means “brave lion”. You could use another name with a similar meaning for example [name]Lionel[/name], [name]Leopold[/name], Hayder, [name]Leander[/name], [name]Leon[/name], [name]Leonidas[/name], [name]Levon[/name].
Of your girls names I like [name]Leonie[/name] the most. You can also consider [name]Aria[/name], [name]Ariel[/name] and [name]Leandra[/name] which all have lion in the meaning.
Personally I like [name]Lionel[/name] and [name]Aria[/name]!
[name]Leopold[/name] is my favourite [name]Leo[/name] name. Leofric might be too out there, but it’s pretty cute, Leontinus and it’s russian variant [name]Leonti[/name] are quite cool too.
[name]Lenore[/name] and [name]Leonie[/name] are both lovely, and [name]Leona[/name] is very pretty as well. I don’t know if you’ve considered Leontina, but that’s quite beautiful as well.
[name]Cleo[/name]? for a girl
[name]Lenora[/name] is my favorite
for a boy
[name]Leopold[/name]
[name]Ari[/name] (similar meaning) also [name]Ariel[/name] for a girl (both mean lion of God)
I happen to like [name]Leonidas[/name] and [name]Leander[/name] a lot as well, but I love [name]Leo[/name] also
I have a [name]Leonie[/name] so I am partial to that! She gets called [name]Leo[/name] sometimes.
I like [name]Lev[/name] or or [name]Levi[/name] on a boy. I love [name]Cleo[/name] but it doesn’t feel obvious to me.
[name]Leonard[/name] was my grandfather’s name, if I was a boy my mom was going to call me [name]Joel[/name] [name]Leonard[/name]. I think [name]Leonard[/name] is a good option for a mn if it just isn’t gelling as a first name.
Thanks for all the responses! Husband wants it to be a first name, and I understand that, because middle names are rarely used. Uselesskitty, I love [name]Leander[/name] and hadn’t even thought of it!
