Names I liked 8 years ago...

Sorting through some old things I found a handwritten list of names. Judging by other mementos found with the list, I wrote this when I was about eighteen, so roughly 8 years ago. Some of the names I still love today. Others I am almost embarrassed to mention!

What do you think? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you remember the names you liked five to ten years ago?

NAMES I STILL [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] TODAY…
GIRLS:
[name_f]Trudy[/name_f] (back then it was low down my list, but now it’s my number one girls choice)
[name_f]Brenna[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] (except now I would definitely lose the hyphen!)
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] (GP, but I love the [name_m]Adams[/name_m] Family gothy vibe the name has)
[name_f]Freda[/name_f] (one of my all time favourites)
BOYS:
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] (I remember liking this as a very young child, maybe because [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid was my favourite movie!)
[name_m]Lucius[/name_m] (I REALLY don’t remember liking this name when I was 18, I thought it was a new addition to my list! This really threw me!)

WOULDN’T USE TODAY, BUT OK…
GIRLS: [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]Nala[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Bree[/name_f], [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], [name_u]Brady[/name_u], [name_f]October[/name_f], Faerie (though only as a reeeally GP middle name!)
BOYS: [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Jake[/name_m], [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m], [name_u]Darren[/name_u] (prefer [name_u]Darian[/name_u] now)

THE “WHAT WAS I THINKING?” NAMES…
GIRLS: [name_f]Raine[/name_f], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], Kajla
BOYS: [name_f]Taryn[/name_f]-[name_u]Jay[/name_u], Kailan, [name_m]Jamin[/name_m], [name_m]Koby[/name_m], [name_u]Corey[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_u]Cade[/name_u]

No offence intended to anyone who likes these names, they’re just not my style anymore!

GIRLS: [name_f]Raine[/name_f], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
BOYS: [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]

Five years ago (almost 6 now!) I was pregnant with my son.

I loved the names:
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jason[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]

I still love [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], but my husband does NOT
I am very attached to [name_m]Jason[/name_m], but my husband HATES it
And while [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is super cute and trendy, I think my child would have killed me with all the “Hey [name_u]Jude[/name_u]” references.

I went with [name_m]Liam[/name_m], which was only [name_m]JUST[/name_m] starting to get popular when he was born and is now SUPER popular. GRRRRRR!!!

I love [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]! I think that is one that has been on my lists for a looong time (even though it didn’t appear on that one in particular).

[name_m]Liam[/name_m] is a great name (which is why it has become so popular I guess!)

Haha, oh my. Mine go back to about age 12, so collectively from ages 12-17:

Still lovely: [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]

What on actual earth was I thinking?: [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Hadleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u], [name_f]Kylah[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], Kaeleigh/[name_f]Kaylea[/name_f], [name_f]Kaydence[/name_f], [name_u]Jordyn[/name_u], Meghanne, [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_u]Lyndsay[/name_u], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f]

That’s all I can think of for now, my boys names haven’t changed that drastically :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Trudy[/name_f], [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]!

I have lots from about the age of 10-ish? [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t have any lists with me, but from memory I used to love…

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - I was so in love with this
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] - I’d toyed with the Eefa spelling too
Amileah - yup, this spelling. I think I liked the idea of [name_f]Leah[/name_f] as a nn
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] - with nn [name_u]Seren[/name_u]… I guess it works but I’d never do that.
[name_f]Gypsy[/name_f] - ew ew ew no. I was reading a lot of [name_f]Cathy[/name_f] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] at the time haha, but this is sort of funny since I’m so against cultural appropriation in naming now
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f] - yeah, [name_f]Cathy[/name_f] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] influence there again
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphi[/name_f]

[name_u]Paddy[/name_u]
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m] - still an absolute favourite
[name_m]Casimer[/name_m] - still a favourite, with the [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] spelling

I still like the majority, but they’re too popular now or just not my style anymore.
