[name_m]Jack[/name_m] – too popular. It would bother me for him to be lumped in with all of the Jacks, Jacksons, Jaxsons, and Jaxons.
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] – I tend to like names with history, and this one seems a little “invented.” I don’t like the Disney association.
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] – I don’t know why I am drawn to it, and people tend to give me negative feedback on this one.
I love them all, but haven’t gotten a positive reaction to any of them. Someone talk me into one of these or something similar! Also, I cannot use max or cole, and the names in my signature have all been vetoed by my SO. Help!
My favourite on your list is [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]. I like the possibility of [name_u]Beck[/name_u] for a nn too. Other names that may have a similar vibe are…
[name_m]Roger[/name_m]: I get a lot of ‘yikes’ faces if I ever bring it up. I don’t think others have really gotten there on [name_m]Roger[/name_m] yet.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]: I probably will use [name_m]Henry[/name_m] if I ever have a boy because it has been my favourite boys name (by far) since I was in grade school 15+ years ago. At that time, nobody in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] was using that name and it was really unpopular. Then [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] Klum used it and since then it has jumped up and is very popular. Having a popular name myself, I never wanted to use them for my children. But given me and my SO have Italian backgrounds, I think I would use [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and then also use the nn [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] (an Italian diminutive).
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]: I do not like noun names but [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is an exception. It reminds me of world travel which is probably my biggest passion in life. I want to use it as a middle name. Probably won’t be ballsy enough to use it as a first.
I agree, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a bit too popular!
However, I do love [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], not too unusual yet not too popular!
Of those 3 I prefer [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. It’s a great, strong and classic name, though yes, very popular.
If [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] seems too ‘invented’ what about [name_u]Finn[/name_u]? I know that is popular too but you could always go with a longer form such as [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] or even [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]?
I dislike [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], it makes me think ‘bucket’ or something even worse beginning with F. I’m sorry!!
Names that have a similar feel to these, and the names in your sig - [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u]
I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] because it’s short and sweet. And it was what my grandfather was called (short for [name_m]John[/name_m]). Is it overwhelmingly popular? Like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]? I find it difficult to believe that it will ever gain that amount of popularity. Yes, it sounds a bit trendy, but so what? And if he runs into others with the same name, again, so what?
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is my least favorite of the three, but if you love it, use it no matter what anyone else thinks. It’s not ‘out there’ and it’s a very dignified sounding name. You could shorten it to [name_u]Beck[/name_u] or use that as a nickname.
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] seems to be on the rise. Again, not my favorite, but it’s nice.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t be afraid to use any of these names!
These suggestions are very helpful, thank you! However, most of these suggestions have also been vetoed – if I included the vetoed list there would be no more room on the page! (And I am trying to move away from soft, gentle sounding names like [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. I prefer strong and energetic). I might have to settle on something I like rather than something I love. But I do appreciate the help!
I think [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is adorable! And comes with the nn [name_u]Beck[/name_u] or Becks! So cute. And it isn’t too cutesy, I can totally picture an adult [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] or a teen [name_m]Beckett[/name_m].
I’m not really a fan of [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], not for any particular reason, it’s just not my style (nothing wrong with it though). I do think it is currently very tied to Disney.
I also agree with you on [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is adorable, and is very versatile, but it is soooo popular. There are 3 Jacks on my school hockey team. And then you factor in all the [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] & Co ([name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], Jacxson, etc.) and they’re all called [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I can see how that would be annoying.
I think you should keep [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] though. [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is a standout. If not [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], how about [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]?
I really like [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. Makes me think of the swashbuckling movie star [name_m]Errol[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] from the 30’s-50’s rather than the Disney character, if that helps
I think if you love a name, use it. Personally I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I’ve never met a [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in person so I don’t see it as popular at all. Maybe it’s just not widely used in my area but is in yours? It feels more familiar to me rather than super popular.
[name_m]Becket[/name_m] I don’t particularly care for as it feels very trendy and I just hear bucket.
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is super cute although feels very popular. I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as well.
I honestly think you shouldn’t use a "like, name over a “love” name. If a name has a few drawbacks but you still absolutely love it then I think you should go for it.
I’d go for [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]. It’s not as common and it’s a wonderful name. It’s very handsome. The others I find are overly used. [name_m]Fynn[/name_m] is getting popular right now.
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is nice, it has a lot of spirit. [name_m]Even[/name_m] without a long history it would be my choice.
I don’t think the Disney connection is a big deal. I doubt Tangled will be at all popular in a decade. I wouldn’t avoid using [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] because of the crab in [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid.
What about?
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m]
