I’m searching for some names to add to my list. I’m looking for boys names especially, that’s way I collected more boy names, but I’m thinking of girls names also.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] to see comments on my possible boy and girl list, listed below. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to be honest, just don’t be rude.
I love mythological, trendy names, mostly with [name_f]Elle[/name_f] nickname. On my boys list I have [name_m]Lancelot[/name_m], [name_m]Percival[/name_m], [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] as possible boys names. [name_f]Love[/name_f] Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m], Celtic, Belgian, Norse, Egyptian and Greek mythology. Anything to suggest?
I would prefer uncommon or unusual names, but feel free to suggest something more popular.
Names I’m thinking of adding to my full lists are:
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m]
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - would it be weird if atheist calls his child God-frey?
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - worried about nickname [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] or [name_m]Ed[/name_m]. I know this can’t be avoid, but maybe I would never loved [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] as I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m].
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - I think this one is easier to pronounce than [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].
[name_f]Noor[/name_f]
Clarimond - I have a ex-friend called [name_f]Klara[/name_f] and we are not in good relations. Would this be weird to name a child?
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m]
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - which is correct spelling? [name_u]Emory[/name_u] or [name_m]Amaury[/name_m]? Are they pronounce the same?
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m]
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] - for a girl? I like [name_m]Eldrid[/name_m].
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - I don’t think it’s weird, it’s referring to a pagan god though, not the christian one.
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] - nice, I think [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] is cooler.
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - The [name_m]Edward[/name_m] I know is a [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] - beautiful, I prefer Svanhild or [name_f]Swanilda[/name_f] myself, but lovely all the same.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - cute! I adore [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - I find this boring, but nothing wrong with it. I prefer sleeker and more romantic [name_f]Elisa[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - beautiful.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] - beautiful.
Clarimond - nah, I think it’s fine. It wouldn’t bother me.
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] - [name_f]LOVE[/name_f]. Beautiful name.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - very nice.
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - adore [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_u]Alfie[/name_u].
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - lovely. As far as I know [name_u]Amory[/name_u], [name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_u]Amery[/name_u] are all medieval versions of Almeric, [name_m]Amaury[/name_m] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] version.
[name_m]Amaury[/name_m]: a-mo-[name_f]REE[/name_f]
[name_u]Amory[/name_u]/[name_u]Amery[/name_u]: AY-muh-ree
[name_u]Emory[/name_u]/[name_u]Emery[/name_u]: [name_f]EM[/name_f]-uh-ree
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m]–nothing WRONG with it, but not an ‘amazingly great’ name.
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - Reminds me of Mrs. [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] from the Big [name_m]Nate[/name_m] comics. And it’s your call on the ‘God’ syllable.
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]–Why not just [name_m]Jeffery[/name_m]?
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - I read a terrible book called Codex and the main character was [name_m]Edward[/name_m], plus it doesn’t sound good. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], maybe?
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f]-I’ve never heard this one, so I can’t say.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]-This is a nice name that, sadly, is also a common term for grandfather…
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]-[name_f]El[/name_f]-EEza? Ehl-AYE-za?
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - I like this one!
[name_f]Noor[/name_f]-Huh???
Clarimond - As long as you don’t call her [name_f]Clara[/name_f], this one’s perfectly fine…but it sounds like a store.
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m]-YES!
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m]-[name_m]Cecil[/name_m] is better. shrug
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]-On the fence about this one.
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - [name_u]Emory[/name_u] is the better spelling, despite the [name_u]Emory[/name_u] board connections.
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m]-It’s okay…
Some suggestions: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]Fionn[/name_u] (or just [name_u]Finn[/name_u]), [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]/[name_m]Zeus[/name_m], [name_u]Loki[/name_u], [name_m]Thor[/name_m], Hephastaeus (spelling?), Thoth
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], didn’t realized [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] means god [name_m]Frey[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] silly! Thank you for your positive feedback.
raevynstar, you’re been very helpful, thanks. Some of suggested names are already on the list.
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] - Not my style, but not bad.
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - definitely a big name for a small child. I’d be a little concerned about the lack of nickname options should little [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] dislike his name (it’s sort of one of those name you either love or hate).
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] - strongly dislike.
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - Twilight ruined this name for me.
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] - lovely.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - adore.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - dislike the sound.
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - I think this one is easier to pronounce than [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - really? I find [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] easier and tend to prefer it.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] - nice, but definitely out of place of the rest of your names.
Clarimond - not quite sure how to pronounce this.
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] - sounds like a villain’s name.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - I like it.
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - not bad.
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - okay.
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m] - not my style.
Saracita, I love your suggestions. [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] is already on my list, [name_m]Leif[/name_m] is nice, so is [name_m]Desmond[/name_m].
bibliophile, really. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] have number of pronunciation and I prefer the hardest one. Hahah. Like your suggestions. [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] is already on my list, [name_f]Rosamunde[/name_f] and [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] are nice, just worried about [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m].
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] - This sounds like a wizard name! I feel like I would love it on an old man but not on a young boy.
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - I like this. I feel like you’d have to pair it with a more conventional middle in case [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] is too “out there” for your little guy.
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] - Eh. It’s just a different spelling of [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], not exciting enough for me! ([name_f]Edit[/name_f]: Unless you’re pronouncing it like the Game of Thrones character who is a horrible little S.O.B.)
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - Ditto Saracita, Twilight ruined this name for me too.
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] - Oooh. Not my style but I love how unexpected it is.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is so sweet. I wanted to use it but DH thinks of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] the old man from Seinfeld.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - I think of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Doolittle in My Fair Lady. Not my favourite character.
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - I prefer just [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], and I only slightly prefer [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]… too girly for me.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] - Jury’s out on this one. Very unusual, I don’t think I like it but I may change my mind after I think about it.
Clarimond - I like.
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] - I think of a grizzled pirate! It’s a lot of fun, but its pretty out there.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]. Most young people will think of the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] character but I can get past the association.
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - I have an uncle named [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and he’s a total ass, so I’m not crazy about this one. Also: [name_m]Alf[/name_m]?
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - I’ve always liked [name_u]Amory[/name_u], I’m not sure why so many people seem to dislike it.
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m] - I think I like this? But it would depend on the combo.
Also, Bibliophile I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] to death.
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] Not my style. I don’t see the appeal.
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] Have you seen the old movie with [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Powell[/name_m]? I like this one, but some people might find it too out there or unfamiliar. Keep it.
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] I have a cousin [name_m]Geoff[/name_m]. I like the name and the spelling.
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] Keep. [name_m]Ward[/name_m] or [name_m]Ted[/name_m].
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] Not my style and not with [name_m]Edward[/name_m]! ([name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Cullen[/name_m] and ([name_u]Isa[/name_u])bella Swan!)
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] if you’re in the UK, keep. I’m not sure it works in the US. I would like it better as a nickname.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] lovely
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] Nice.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]; on my own list.
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m]. not my style. I wouldn’t add this one.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]! I like the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] Not my style, but it could work.
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] I prefer vastly This Side of Paradise to The Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m]. I believe he pronounces A-mor-ry.
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m] Not sure.
emilyva, thank you for your input. [name_m]Roland[/name_m] is already on my list and I really don’t like [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Melisande[/name_f], thou.
[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] - not really my style, but not bad
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - I’m afraid I’ve never liked [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m], I like [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] much more
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] - I think [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m]'s great and definitely this spelling
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] - I prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] myself and if you used [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nn I don’t think [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] would be a problem
[name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] - seems a bit much to me as a first name, maybe in the middle
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - I actually used to have a guinea pig called [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] so I do like it though it does seem to have a different feel to your other names, I think it’s more informal
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - even though I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I’ve always found [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] rather whiny-sounding
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] - I basically love just about any [name_f]Rose[/name_f] name, so yes, though I do prefer just [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] - not really my style but very pretty
Clarimond - it’s like a [name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] smoosh…I kinda like it. And I don’t think it matters about your ex-friend as long as it’s not an issue to you
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] - I find this rather ugly, sorry
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - I don’t actually mind [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], but I much prefer its rhyming cousin [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] - [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is just awesome and comes complete with [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] if you want nicknames
[name_u]Amory[/name_u] - I would pronounce this as [name_m]AH[/name_m]-mory and [name_u]Emory[/name_u] as EH-mory. So whichever you prefer
[name_m]Rainer[/name_m] - I wouldn’t mind [name_m]Rainier[/name_m], but to me a ‘rainer’ is a cloud, if that makes sense
