Names Like Caroline

So I’m having a really hard time thinking of a name for a new character I’m working on. The name [name]Caroline[/name] feels right, but unfortunately my main character is named [name]Maren[/name] (and this one is MC’s best friend).
Is it too weird to have names that start with similar sounds and end with an “n” sound for best friends? Or does it work anyway?
If it doesn’t work, do you have any suggestions for names like [name]Caroline[/name]? I love that it’s a mixture of soft and hard, in a way. I’m considering [name]Cassidy[/name] but it sounds too spunky for the character, who is more mellow.

Sorry if I’m rambling, I’m just getting frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think it works, but [name]Maren[/name] and [name]Madeline[/name] wouldn’t. [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Maren[/name] aren’t perfect, but they look very different on paper, which is most important for me.

They don’t sound perfect together, but they do look considerably different from one another, which is good for reading.

Other ideas that might work:

[name]Carolina[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Georgette[/name]

They’re friends, not siblings. Doesn’t matter. Completely irrelevant. I know a number of friends who have the SAME name… So don’t worry about it. [name]Maren[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] don’t sound close enough to matter in the least.

Personally, I think [name]Caroline[/name] sounds totally fine with [name]Maren[/name]. But, if you really don’t want to use [name]Caroline[/name] you can use some form of nn like [name]Callie[/name], [name]CeCe[/name], or [name]Carolina[/name]

I think it’s totally fine. That sort of thing happens in real life all the time…I knew some friends whose names were [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Audra[/name]. That didn’t change a thing. They look really different on paper, anyhow, and if it really bothers you, you can give one of them a nickname.
