Names like Fox and Dashiell?

We have about 6 weeks to go and are still searching for the perfect name for our second son. We have a son named [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and a daughter named [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I think [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] would be perfect, but my husband doesn’t like the former and thinks the latter is too popular (we live in a very hipster neighborhood of a large city, and have met a few). I like the idea of something that feels light and playful and rather dashing in a slightly mischievous sort of way. Any suggestions? Surname sounds like luh-[name_f]MAY[/name_f]. Thank you!

[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]? Wilf for short …

The first names that came to mind were [name_m]Declan[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I also think [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] could work, too. I really think you have a winner with [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], though. It’s too bad your DH thinks it’s too popular. What about just [name_u]Dash[/name_u]? It has the shortness and “punch” of a name like [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and obviously is similar to [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]. Might be an option.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:

I think [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] fits perfectly for what you described, but if you are looking for some other possibilities that may not be as popular in your neighborhood maybe…

I also live in a very hipster area of a big city and I can tell u that [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] is the new [name_m]Becket[/name_m] and [name_m]FOX[/name_m] is the new [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]. I have 2 friends from dif groups who just used it. I like like the suggestion of [name_u]Orion[/name_u], stellan and [name_m]Otto[/name_m]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]?

The suggestion of [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] is my favorite. I can’t use it though, but I love it.

‘[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_u]Dash[/name_u]’ and ‘[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m]’ are a very definite trend for rugged nature and hipster. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has quite a different vibe, to me.

On the other hand, ‘[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]’ together are very literary (sliding from Wilde to [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]), especially with Dashiell thrown into the mix. If not literary, then maybe just hipster.

I think Dashiell is a good fit, but if you don’t want to use it, I would suggest:

Lots of fantastic selections. I have a few more: [name_m]Booker[/name_m] or [name_u]Blaise[/name_u].

I hope [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] goes by [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. Seh cuuuute!!
