[name_f]Baby[/name_f] girl #4 is due early [name_m]January[/name_m], and we still haven’t landed on a name! We have a couple of top favorites, but are still looking to see if there is something out there that we might love even better. I love the sound of Isla-Ruth, but one of my closest friends has a little [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], so I can’t use it. I don’t love Isla-Rose quite as well because of our last name, which begins with “Ro”. And I just don’t care for Isla-Reese or Isla-Rue :sob:

The initials “IR” are a tribute to my husband’s, which really appeals to me. I don’t know why I like almost no 1-syllable girl names to pair with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Maybe there’s another “I” name that I haven’t thought of that would magically resolve this problem :joy:

I do like on paper, but don’t quite love (to say over and over), both [name_f]Inessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Iridessa[/name_f].

For anyone who hasn’t seen my other posts, our other 3 daughters are:

Any “Isla” or “I” suggestions? [name_m]Or[/name_m] any suggestions, for that matter? We are desperate lol.

Your daughters’ names are lovely :slight_smile: Elysienne is so cool and elegant.

Eflyn just doesn’t feel graceful enough next to the other names. It seems a bit more harsh. It also sounds a bit like an insult towards a person named [name_f]Lynn[/name_f] “Eff Lynn”, sorry! :frowning:

Alternatives you might like: [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] (soft and pretty), [name_f]Elvina[/name_f], [name_f]Everlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Everly[/name_f], Ever-Rose, [name_f]Evarose[/name_f], Eva-Rose or Everose.

[name_f]Elethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] kind of rhyme a tiny bit. I find [name_f]Elilta[/name_f] a bit hard to say.

I don’t know why, but when I hear Isla-Ruth my brain goes “I love Ruth” whereas this doesn’t happen with [name_f]Rose[/name_f], maybe because [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is more popular in combos?

Have you thought about pairing [name_f]Isla[/name_f] with an R-middle name? Without the hyphen. That way it doesn’t have to flow as well and you could call her [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Romy[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f].

Other combos I can think of:

Isla-Rain (this does give me “I love rain”, though)
Isla-Rynn
Isla-Ray

Others: Ilvy, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Iley[/name_f], [name_f]Isley[/name_f].

I like Elethea, though I don’t love that it’s another El starting name. The other two E names, for me, are going too far off track from your other names - that are ethereal and mystical but still (on their own) familiar or familiar sounding names. Efflyn just autocorrected to Effluent. I wouldn’t use it. Elilta is another El name so it wouldn’t be for me, I also first saw it was Elita (and therefore thought of “a litre” (of milk)). I think it’ll be much more faffy for her to have to spell and explain than the other girls are asked to do with theirs.

Eirlys (love this! IR in there & the meaning is “snowdrop”)
Eirian (but might get Aryan)
Esmeray
Evelune
Endellion
Eryndor (also has an IR feel)
Evryn (also has IR feel)

I’ll suggest Idalou or Ivalou. They have the same rhythm and vowel sounds as Isla-Ruth. You can write them as Ida-Lou or Iva-Lou if you prefer. Then find an R middle name you both enjoy.
