Trying to sell dh on [name_f]Summer[/name_f], a name I’ve always loved. But he thinks it sounds snobby. Any other summery names come to mind? I like [name_u]Ocean[/name_u] but I think its not namey enough for him. I’ve been feeling this baby needs a sunshiney name since the beginning. He is pretty set on Ke’alohilani nn [name_f]Alohi[/name_f] (kay uh loh hee luh nee) which means the bright sky but I’m getting cold feet and I’m trying to put together a list of safer options like [name_f]Summer[/name_f] with Ke’alohilani the middle.
I tried looking up names with the meaning “[name_f]Summer[/name_f]”… the funny thing is, they just aren’t as prevalent as names meaning “[name_f]Spring[/name_f]”!..
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] goes well with your other kids’ names and isn’t snotty to me at all. The Hawaiian name is pretty but will be hard for people outside [name_m]Hawaii[/name_m].
Ke’alohilani is very pretty but it does seem like the odd one out in your existing name set. The other children have Hawaiian middle names rather than first; do you definitely want to switch order for this baby?
Would you consider [name_f]Amber[/name_f]? I love the two colours names of your girls and wonder if you’d want to continue the theme. [name_f]Amber[/name_f] is such a warm sunshine yellow golden colour that I think it works well here! I also really like [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], another lovely warm yellow colour.
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] Ke’alohilani
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Amber[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] Ke’alohilani
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
If you’re not keen on repeating initials, maybe another colour name instead:
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
Otherwise how about [name_u]Eden[/name_u]? It’s not quite as traditional as the rest of your names but to me it has a lovely lush garden feel to it that brings to mind the bounty of summer.
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] Ke’alohilani
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u]
I think [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is beautiful! Another sunny name that comes to mind is [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] (and of course [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], which means dawn). There’s also [name_u]June[/name_u], the first month of summer.
Your other girls both have color names, so how about [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]?
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] isn’t snobby imo. I second the suggestion of [name_u]June[/name_u], as well; [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_u]June[/name_u]
Luh-ni is a a very awkward pronunciation of -lani for me, so that kind of ruins the name for me… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce all -lani names luh-ni? I’m very curious. I’ve only ever heard law-nee, and that pronunciation seems more intuitive and natural imo. I have no idea which pronunciations are actually considered correct, though
I love [name_f]Summer[/name_f]! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Lani[/name_f], [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] (Oh-say-ahn), Sky, Isla and [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] also come to mind.
With a hawaiian accent yes lani sounds more like luh nee and lah nee is the more common mainland way say it. I would say it lah nee when telling a non hawaii person her mn but say it luh nee to a hawaii person
