Names Like

I’m currently crushing on names that remind me of what I would lump together as “church heroes”. Martyrs, missionaries, reformers, inspiring Christians? So far, I’ve got these that I’m super loving:

Ayla (for missionary to the Chinese, [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] Aylward)
[name_m]Cornelius[/name_m] (for the story in the Bible, but also as a nod to [name_u]Corrie[/name_u] ten Boom, who I LOVE)
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (for [name_m]Jim[/name_m] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u])
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] ([name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], missionary)
[name_m]Irenaeus[/name_m] (for the early church leader of the same name)
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] (as opposed to my current [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]; for [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] Kuhn)
[name_m]Livingston[/name_m](e) (for [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Livingstone[/name_m])
[name_m]Luther[/name_m] nn [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (for [name_m]Martin[/name_m] [name_m]Luther[/name_m])
[name_m]Spurgeon[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ian[/name_m] (for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Spurgeon[/name_m])

What do you think of these, and what might you add to this list?

Thanks, Berries!

[name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] (for [name_m]John[/name_m] & [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m])
[name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Wycliffe[/name_m] (for [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Wycliffe[/name_m], bible translator)
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] or [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] (for [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u])
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_u]Nightingale[/name_u] (for [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Nightingale[/name_u])
[name_m]William[/name_m] (for [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Law[/name_m])
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] (for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Inglis[/name_m])
[name_u]George[/name_u] or [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] (for [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_m]Herbert[/name_m])
[name_m]William[/name_m] or Wilberforce (for [name_m]William[/name_m] Wilberforce)
[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] (for Mother [name_f]Teresa[/name_f])
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_u]Keller[/name_u] (for [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_u]Keller[/name_u])
[name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Johannes[/name_m] (for [name_m]Johannes[/name_m] Gutenberg - Gutenberg Bible)

Thank you! I’ve thought of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] again recently, although not only for Mother [name_f]Teresa[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma was named after her Aunt [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] so I thought that might be a sweet tie.

I’m also liking [name_f]Claire[/name_f] because of a quote I remember reading and loving from St. [name_u]Clare[/name_u] of [name_f]Assisi[/name_f], but I’m not Catholic, just Protestant, so I’m not necessarily looking for saint names in particular. I love the idea of something like [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] or Aquinas but I’m not sure that I’d use them? Saints isn’t really a thing in my church, and so it just seems like a peculiar thing to have a bunch of [name_m]Saint[/name_m] names on my list lol. (I think some of them have lovely stories, but anyways.)

Thanks, love! If I was more fond of the name [name_m]Knox[/name_m] I would consider it! I was thinking about it yesterday but [name_m]Knox[/name_m] was just never my thing? I wish Zwingli, Hus (eh, I guess I could use [name_u]Jan[/name_u] but I don’t think it really works with my favorites lol), Farel, Lefevre, Melancthon, etc., had more usable names. I do like [name_m]Petri[/name_m], for the [name_m]Petri[/name_m] brothers, and even [name_m]Olaf[/name_m] (one of the [name_m]Petri[/name_m] brothers), but with [name_m]Peter[/name_m] AND [name_f]Petra[/name_f] on my list I figure I don’t need ANOTHER [name_m]Peter[/name_m]-related name lol.
