Hello! I was looking at the meanings of some of my favourite names the other day, and while meaning is only a very small part of the deciding factor for me, I realised I really like names that mean something special. As someone who has dealt with horrible depression in my adult life, ‘light’, both symbolic and literal, has been a huge part of my recovery and motivation to keep going, and that’s definitely the meaning I’m drawn to the most
Some of my favourite names already have some kind of ‘light’ meaning:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (my all time girls favourite) - shining light/the bright one/the light of the sun
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] (a big family name) - famed/bright/shining
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - bright, clear
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - day’s eye
[name_f]Dawn[/name_f] - word name, but like… dawn is first light?
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] - (sort of… some of the meanings are like ‘white ring/white circle’… the moon?)
Anyway, I would love some more suggestions! My style is Biblical or Vintage, and I really like botanical names too, but botanical is not necessary.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (another star)

For botanical names you could go for:

[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f] (meaning White [name_f]Rose[/name_f])
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (sunny coloured flower. Also [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] is related to the sun)

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] (meaning rainbow)

One of my favorite names that means light is [name_f]Leora[/name_f].
Wow, thanks for the suggestions! @mummamarigold you’re right about my own name meaning light, I didn’t realise that until nameberry
That puts me off using other [name_m]Luc[/name_m]- names though unfortunately, although I do love [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f] and other [name_f]El[/name_f]- names, but I don’t think I can use them as well as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and that’s the firm favourite.
[name_m]Abner[/name_m] and [name_m]Jairus[/name_m] though! Wow!
