I was thinking of what names of past relations that my come back into vogue. Here are a few I found that some may find interesting. Please share your own relatives names that you think may becoming back in fashion.
My grandma was named [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. I think that could come back, since [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is so popular on its own. Her mother was named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is already back! [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] is probably becoming fashionable again, too. (Funny thing - my grandma was given no middle name, while her mother had two - I always thought that was weird.) My grandpa’s grandmother (my great-great-grandmother) was named [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. I love that!
My Irish side was a succession of Patricks, which is just as popular as ever I think.
My grandmother was [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] which I really like and Im sure is due a comeback!
On the [name_m]German[/name_m] side there was [name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] etc.
My great-great-grandmother was named Léonie which already has made its way back (it has yet to break through in Denmark though). I also had a relative named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] (I think he might have been my grandmother’s aunt, but I’m not quite sure) and that is coming back strongly as well. My grandmother and her siblings had really interesting names, but I don’t see any of them coming back anytime soon.
I’m still trying to figure out how [name_f]Etta[/name_f] isn’t back in the top 1000 yet. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] plus the mega popularity of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f]? Very strange.
[name_f]Hortense[/name_f] [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - my grandmother’s mother
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] - My dad’s grandfather (they put him down as “Auto” in the censuses, haha)
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] - Two of my dad’s great uncles shared it as a middle, and one went by his FN.
Willella - They got creative, I guess : ) My dad’s great aunt.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is having a slight comeback, but Willella is not any time soon, as far as I know and hope : )
EDIT: Just found an Argalus Hercules in the Scottish family line. Interestingly, his brothers and sisters had stereotypical bible names (William, John, etc.)
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] - This one could come back.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - I am not sure this ever went out of style but it’s been popular as both a first and middle name in my family for several generations.
[name_f]Carol[/name_f] - I don’t think this is popular anymore.
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - I had a great aunt (or maybe a great great aunt) with this name, I think it could come back since so many people like [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
There aren’t really any interesting guy names in my family, just popular names.
I had a trial account of ancestry.com for a few weeks and discovered that I have a several-greats-grandpa [name_m]Joachim[/name_m]. That was the most interesting name I came across…it could make an nice middle.
