Names of the late 1990s

I was at the end-of-the-year concert band & wind ensembles concerts the other evening & it dawned on me that I had a nice sampling of names of children born between 1997 & 2001 because of the program w/the kids’ names in it. To provide some context, I live near a small city in upstate NY, in a very homogenous (i.e., practically all Caucasian) & high-performing school district, so there are lots of upper-middle class families in my area. I was curious to see how many Berries think these names seem dated to them, or unusual, so please feel free to comment about anything that strikes your fancy!

As someone named [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] who was born in the late 90s, I can confirm that [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Madisyn[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], etc are a bit dated. At least they are here.
By the way, I live in a poor area in rural Tasmania, Australia. It is probably different in other parts of the world.

I live in a very similar setting but in NJ: middle class, mostly Caucasian, etc. And I’m in the same age range as those kids probably (born in 1996 myself).
Those names are very, very typical for the details you provided. I’ve grown up with multiple people with those names.

Actually, the majority of late-90s-born people I knew and grew up with were named:

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Melissa[/name_f], Lauren, [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] ([name_f]Katie[/name_f] is actually a little more outdated than [name_f]Kate[/name_f]), [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], Morgan, and [name_f]Erin[/name_f].
[name_u]Nick[/name_u], [name_m]Jared[/name_m], [name_m]Matt[/name_m], [name_m]Will[/name_m], [name_u]Kyle[/name_u], [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Jon[/name_m]/[name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_m]Brian[/name_m], and [name_m]Zach[/name_m].

However, each year you get away from 1995 I’d say, more “modern” names start to weave in.
I was born in '96, and the teens a year younger than me would more be more likely to have names like:

[name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Maddison[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_u]Jordan[/name_u].
[name_m]Chance[/name_m], [name_u]Cody[/name_u], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u].
