I had so many pet names growing up (names that aren’t used full time but rather for jokes and fun) and I wanna see yours! Even better if you have a story behind them! Just say what your name is, what you went by, and all the fun names you were given. It’ll also be great if you put them in order from most used to least used. I’ll go first:
Pet names:
Gl@nny - From my last name and mainly used by my teachers
Fizzy - In high school everyone thought I had really pretty eyes so people called me “Pretty Eyes.” That shortened to “P.E.” and then for some reason I started to be called Physical Education (keep in mind we were in high school haha.) From Physical Education it shortened to Fizzy/Physsy idk I never spelled it or wrote in on paper. Than name stuck and everyone just resorted to that name. Whenever someone asked how I got the name, my friends would just say that I had a “bubbly personality” which didn’t make sense to me at the time and I thought I was being compared to sparkling water. Fizzy and Fizz were the main call outs when people were talking to or about me Lenny - First in elementary school by my classmates then died in middle school. Somehow got resurrected by my coworkers at the place I work and they called me Lenny on a daily basis Villy - Also from my last name but not as common as Gl@nny
Trash - Was awarded this name by my little brother when we were younger
Most used: Gl@nny (teachers) and Fizzy (classmates) Favorite: Probably also Gl@nny and Fizzy but of course Trash deserves some praise too
Least favorite: Villy just bc it wasn’t used a lot and sounds like villain
Now it’s your turn! Can’t wait to see all the fun names!
Mouse - My dad calls me this all the time! It might be my favorite.
Muffin - Both of my parents call me this, and I think it’s really cute! Muffins were my favorite food when I was little, so maybe that’s where it comes from.
Hazy - A lot of my close friends and cousins call me Hazy, a nickname for Hazel (one of my names). I love this one!
Basil/Hazel Basil - Friends, teachers, classmates, etc. Lots of people have called me this one throughout my life! It’s a classic!
Zeehow - severely phonetically-butchered version of my name, which nobody could pronounce anyways
Fuwa - childhood nickname
[name_u]Rice[/name_u] Dumpling [name_m]Fish[/name_m] - some incredibly twisted phonetic translation of my name
Salad - just that
Song
Slacker - from fellow teammates who say I slack at practice
Sarahwithanh - (from when I went by Sarah) all fellow Sara(h)’s know the pain
Lolzabeth - Given to me by a friend at school from my first and middle name. [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] - Only my mum and husband call me [name_f]Lolly[/name_f]. Lolzy - Given at school but just first name Widget - What my dad calls me. It’s a cross between a wiggle and a fidget because I never sat still! Loldee - Appeared at uni. Lau - A lady I used to work with, used only by a certain group of friends.
Moni - my nickname in school, there are still some people (mostly in my hometown) that call me like that
[name_f]Mona[/name_f] - my nickname in university throughout my bulgarian friends (my non bulgarian friends refer to me by my whole name)
Mono - this came by a friend after some album of her favourite k-pop singers
Emotikoni - my father calls me like that
Emonika - my mom calls me like that
Emonka - all my elder relatives use that
[name_f]Kez[/name_f] - what most people shortened my name to in primary school
Keliko - frillification of my name by one of my best friends in high school. Probably because we liked the song [name_f]Calico[/name_f] Skies
Kelvis - another high school rendering of my name
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - my best friend, her sister and I decided to nickname ourselves after the [name_f]Bee[/name_f] Gees
[name_m]Sinbad[/name_m] - went on a weekend away to Liverpool with the two girls mentioned above and they started calling me [name_m]Sinbad[/name_m] after a character in a tv show that was filmed there. I still go by [name_m]Sinbad[/name_m] today a lot of the time.
Seynabou - I used to live in [name_u]West[/name_u] [name_f]Africa[/name_f] and this was given to me as my “Senegalese name”
[name_u]Leslie[/name_u] (after the actor/dancer [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] Caron)
[name_u]Les[/name_u] (sounding like Less) From high school, started as a joke because back then there were more guys named [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] than girls
[name_m]Cy[/name_m] After [name_m]Cy[/name_m] [name_m]Young[/name_m], because I was a softball pitcher and a baseball freak
[name_u]Milo[/name_u], the name I write under. People who know my work call me [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. Now some friends do too. It’s the name I prefer.
Tama/TaTa - based on my first name, but I used to hate both [name_f]Du[/name_f] Da - was an inside joke of me and my childhood friend based on my last name [name_f]Lil[/name_f] Voicecrack - gave by my brother, because my voice cracks a lot haha Bonus Point - gave by a group of friends, because they used to throw me around and I was too weak to fight back [name_u]Snow[/name_u] White - named by everyone when I was a child, because I looked exactly like her [name_u]Harry[/name_u] - by my uncle because I looked like [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] with my old glasses Tači - diminutive of my name, but mostly used by my cousin [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] - by my friends, because I’m always happy TaDa - combo of my and my friend’s names
