What are names others seem to like (on this site or in general), but you think sound terrible?
For me it’s [name]Oscar[/name] (always think of [name]Oscar[/name] the grouch), [name]Olive[/name] (don’t like olives), [name]Oliver[/name] (too close to [name]Olive[/name]) and [name]Jasper[/name] (sounds unpleasant).
I love [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Olive[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name], haha!
Erm, some that I just don’t see the appeal of at all:
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name] (maybe I just don’t like [name]Mae[/name] names! lol)
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Penelope[/name] (I like them in the respect that I can see their appeal and I think they’re lovely, but I would never use them personally, and I don’t think they have the “pretty” appeal that so many of my other favorites do)
[name]Gideon[/name] (great Bible character; I don’t see the appeal in the name at all, though!)
[name]Malachi[/name] (it just seems so harsh to me!)
I agree with original poster about [name]Olive[/name].
I like all the names [name]Ash[/name] doesn’t : D.
[name]Logan[/name] is the one boys’ name I just can’t explain my distaste for. Totally irrational, no reason. [name]Just[/name] when I hear it, I don’t like it. It’s a perfectly reasonable pick though.
[name]Millie[/name] gets a lot of love on here and I also just really can’t feel it. Again, no real reason though.
Oh, [name]Logan[/name] made me remember [name]Brody[/name], another one I know [name]Ash[/name] likes. Sorry [name]Ash[/name]!
Again there is no real reason. I guess I associate it strongly with some negative words (to me). Maybe it’s similar for [name]Logan[/name].
Maybe I just don’t have a place in my taste for Irish surnames containing O. I’m really not sure!
But with [name]Brody[/name], I also really don’t like [name]Bodhi[/name]. But I do find [name]Brady[/name] fine, and [name]Broderick[/name]. Who knows!
lol! I know [name]Brody[/name]'s not everyone’s cup of tea. I adore it, but, well. I actually really, really hate [name]Logan[/name], too, so I suppose it’s a bit evened out.
I really don’t like [name]Beatrice[/name]. Especially when it isn’t pronounced correctly i.e [name]Bee[/name]-ah-triss
I don’t like obvious boys names on girls e.g [name]Bryn[/name]
I also don’t like names like [name]Ruby[/name],[name]Ellie[/name],[name]Ella[/name],[name]Esther[/name],[name]Daisy[/name]. They sound like Victorian parlour maid names.
I don’t really “get” [name]Felix[/name] but that’s probably because it’s a brand of cat food in the uk.
I’m probably going to get a lot of stick but I don’t see the appeal in [name]Genevieve[/name] at all. It gets a lot of love on here but it just looks and sounds ugly to me. [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] as well get love but I just find them boring and dated. For boys, I loathe the name [name]August[/name] and variants, but again they seem to be pretty popular on here.
I’ve never seen the appeal of [name]Clementine[/name] or [name]Milo[/name], but tons of people love them. I also don’t care for [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clara[/name] which seems to be really popular right now, and [name]Cecilia[/name]. Hum, I can’t really think of anything else… and I really don’t HATE these, I just really do not see the appeal in them.
I loathe [name]Imogen[/name] (makes me think of indigent) and [name]Clementine[/name] (just awful), [name]Amelia[/name] (especially spelled [name]Emilia[/name]), [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Cosette[/name] (really sounds like the thing you put in a tape deck), [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Paloma[/name] (sounds like a tumor) and [name]Honor[/name] (not going to be good as a teenager). As for boys: [name]Gideon[/name], [name]Alistair[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Easton[/name]/[name]Weston[/name], [name]Maverick[/name], [name]Nico[/name], [name]Xander[/name] (not so bad if it is spelled [name]Zander[/name]). Also, anything Irish that sounds no where near how it’s spelled.
I see [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] everywhere on this site, but can’t stand either of them. Same with Juliet, Harper, [name]Caroline[/name]/[name]Carolina[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name]. [name]Xander[/name] spelled [name]Zander[/name] also bugs me to no end.
[name]Isla[/name], I just cant get on board, it feels too airy and vacant
[name]Wren[/name], just dont get the appeal
[name]Arabella[/name], and all the frill-city names really
I really can’t see the appeal of:
[name]Charlotte[/name]- [name]Just[/name] have never liked the sound
[name]Elodie[/name]- I just find this name incredibly bland. Plus, in [name]France[/name] its very very dated. My [name]MIL[/name] is French and was absolutely incredulous when she heard people were naming babies this in the UK!
[name]Dorothy[/name]- [name]Dorothy[/name] to me is just kind of, gristly sounding?
[name]Freya[/name]- This one is super super popular near me, it seems. Each time I hear of another one I mentally go ‘REALLY?’ lovely meaning and history, but it just reminds me of the word ‘frayed’ or ‘fromage frais’. Fromage [name]Freya[/name]. Not for me.
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] - Oh my darlin’ oh my darlin’ oh my darlin’ [name]Clementine[/name]?!
[name]Gwen[/name] (and all other [name]Gwen[/name] names)
[name]Aurora[/name] / [name]Rory[/name] - The two 'R’s just seem so hard to say & not pretty at all. I love how it looks though… weird huh?
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] / [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
Scarlet
[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] - I don’t mind this one too much, but I’d never use it or suggest that someone else use it… maybe if I met a little [name]Jasper[/name] I’d like it more.
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
