Names popular in UK but not so much in US

I’m curious as to what are some good names that are popular in the UK that aren’t as commonly used in the US but might be good to use?

Off the top of my head, I think these are within the top 200 ish and in bold are really popular (within top 50) especially compared to US stats. A lot of these are trendy at the minute, but I know loads of girls with these names who are in their teens right now…

Yep… we do cutesy well in the UK.

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] got most of them, but here are a few more I know of

I wouldn’t call half of these names popular, especially not here O_o

I got every single one off of the [name_f]England[/name_f] & [name_m]Wales[/name_m] top 1000, haha. They all had 33+ births last year.

I don’t doubt it, I just view ‘popular’ differently I guess. The top ten are our popular names really, beyond that the numbers thin out a lot.

Most of the top 10 are the same though (or at least rank in the US top 100) so I was gathering ones that appeared in the UK top 1000 listing, but ranked significantly lower (or not at all) in the US list. It also sort of depends on the location in [name_f]England[/name_f] (or [name_m]Wales[/name_m], or [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], or Northern [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]), doesn’t it?

I know that in [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_m]Muhammad[/name_m] is the top boys name, but overall, it ranks 19th. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Mohammed[/name_m] rank 3rd and 4th for boys born in [name_u]London[/name_u], but [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is 27th overall, and [name_m]Mohammed[/name_m] is 26th overall. As for girls, in [name_u]London[/name_u] and [name_f]East[/name_f] [name_f]England[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] ranks in the top 10, but overall ranks 16th.

These are just from personal experience:

I think [name_m]Muhammad[/name_m] is actually the top boys name if you include all 100 of it’s spelling variations

But yeah, it does vary region to region as I imagine it does in the US - but I don’t think anything very far out of the top 100/200 is really popular. I have in mind that our top 1000 names makes up for less of the percentage born than it does in the US? I’m not sure.

The first few comments from this post I wouldn’t count as popular here in the uk.

Here in the south east on hearing names at nursery or play groups the top ten popular names (without looking at statistics) are :
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] (100’s of them!)

And making quite a few appearances amongst friends are : [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] & [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] x
