There are quite a few names that have been ruined for me because I knew someone unpleasant with the name. This is such a shame since some of these names would be great without the bad association. A few are:

There are also names that I just can’t use because of celebrities I dislike, like any of One Direction’s names.
So what are yours?

I think it’s a beautiful name, and fits well with my style, but I have known, not one, but THREE horrible girls named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] who have ruined the name for me Maybe if I met a nice [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], it would override that association. Others include:
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] - Especially if shortened to [name_u]Phil[/name_u], as that is the nn the girl used; it’s a shame as I love the nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - Known many; none have been particularly nice to me - all stuck up, posh know-it-alls! [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] - For some reason, I don’t have the same association with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]; however, I would not use it as a first in case it was shortened to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] - for a girl only; still usable for a boy. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] - Not a fan of this name anyway, but I do like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. Unfortunately, they’re too similar to [name_f]Louise[/name_f], so still have the same association to me.
[name_m]Paul[/name_m] - Not necessarily a bad association, as the boy I knew was really quite sweet, but he had special needs and was sometimes very badly behaved, so I don’t think I could use it. [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] - Horrible boy who I could never quite get rid of; haunted me for most of my childhood, lol! [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - Boy who farted all the way through class (he was 17!) [name_m]Norman[/name_m] - Would love to use this as a middle to honour my uncle, however it’s hard not to think of [name_m]Norman[/name_m] [name_m]Bates[/name_m] from Psycho!
There are many others, but these are the names that I really would like to be able to use, but the associations are too strong.
These will all be girls, because I know precisely 2 boys who aren’t related to me, and they’re okay. And some are characters, but to me, they can affect a name just as much as actual people.

Maybe if I met a nice [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], it would override that association. Others include:
