I’m looking for names like [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. Something friendly, wholesome, completely unpretensious, tender, spirited, lively, natural, genuine, and with a surprising amount of backbone. When I think of the name [name_f]Annie[/name_f], I think of a young woman with windblown hair and a red pullover, cuddling her little niece. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t ask me why, it’s just one of those imageries you get.
So these are grown-up names, but are diminutives and have a child-like quality. They don’t feel tied to one particular era or generation, but certainly aren’t modern or recently-revived names. They aren’t “sassy” names like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], or delicate little-girl names like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] or [name_f]Millie[/name_f].
I hope this isn’t too subjective! I would really appreciate to know of any names that feel like what I have described to you.
