Names similar to Roxanne

Does anyone have any suggestions for names similar to [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]? [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are trying to find a name to agree on for our third daughter and so far aren’t having any luck.

Older daughters are [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. [name_f]Vera[/name_f] was a harder sell than [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] which is why im trying to find something along the same vein.

Hmm I wonder if he likes it because of the song?

What other names does he like?

No, not because of the song.

The latest names he has suggested are:

[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and:

[name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Zandra[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], Zandria, and [name_f]Yasmin[/name_f] ( rhymes with [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] )

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_u]Dominique[/name_u], [name_f]Callista[/name_f], or [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], [name_f]Cambria[/name_f], [name_f]Talia[/name_f], and [name_f]Alanis[/name_f]

[name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], [name_f]Coriana[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f], or [name_f]Clarabel[/name_f]

[name_f]Corabel[/name_f], Norabeth, and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Zara[/name_f] but unfortunately DH doesn’t share my enthusiasm. We were hoping to not have a name ending in a because of [name_f]Vera[/name_f] but it isn’t critical.

What names do YOU like? Trying to get a feel for both of your styles.

I like a lot of different ones. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f] etc. I guess older style. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite name is [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but he thinks it is still old ladyish which is why I’ve been trying to see if maybe we can find something else we can both be happy with.

[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and:

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Zuri[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Alexia[/name_f], [name_f]Anika[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_u]Seren[/name_u], [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], [name_u]Zola[/name_u], Tovia, [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f], [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Calixta[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_f]Severine[/name_f]?

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] nn mira
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] nn cora

See these are all great suggestions but so many were already vetoed by him or me for various reasons.
([name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f],ivy, [name_f]Estelle[/name_f])

But please keep posting. There must be a hidden gem in here somewhere!

I like that both your girls have a fun, feisty letter in their name - x and v. What about some other names that have a sleek, continental, hip vibe?
[name_u]Simone[/name_u] ([name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and [name_u]Simone[/name_u] sound great together, imo!)
[name_f]Trinity[/name_f] (I include this because of the ‘three’ symbolism)
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (Loo-sha)

Good luck!

We had [name_u]Simone[/name_u] has a front runner when I was pregnant with number 2. Might be one to revisit. And I like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] (but prefer this spelling) DH thinks it is too [name_m]French[/name_m]. ?! Grrr.

(Sorry for any repeats)

[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and…

[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]/[name_f]Neve[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Amoret[/name_f], [name_f]Nerida[/name_f], [name_f]Merida[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]?

Names similar to [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]:

I knew 2 girls with the name “[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f].” One sibset is [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] & [name_f]Elise[/name_f], and the other is [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] & [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]. Maybe you like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]?

Oh, I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is lovely too. [name_m]How[/name_m] about: [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]

[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and…

[name_f]Adele[/name_f] - to me, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is too close to popular [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Addison[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f] or [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_u]Glenn[/name_u] or [name_f]Glynis[/name_f]

I love your daughters’ names and I think I would personally use any of these to add to the sibset!

[name_f]Willow[/name_f], iris and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] are all great and we have talked about them but we have a nature last time so they come across kinda hippyish.

And we need names still familiar for most people so spelling isn’t an issue.

I suggested [name_f]Portia[/name_f] last night. DH said no one would know how to spell it. So he asked some random people at a restaurant. Not a single one could spell it!!! So disappointing.

Thanks for the great suggestions. [name_f]Vera[/name_f]'s middle name is [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] otherwise [name_f]Adele[/name_f] would have been nice. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] but they are so popular. :frowning: some of the other names are nice but don’t sound good with our last name. ([name_f]Camille[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f])

[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and…

(sorry if i’m repeating!)

We like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but too popular and too much of a mouth full. Better in the second spot. Although I love meeting little [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is great and so classic but sooo popular. I love celeste. DH doesn’t.
And the other ones either aren’t our style or too obscure here and would pose pronunciation or spelling issues.
