We are due in 2 days and have now agreed on a name. It was on my top 5 list and my wife agreed to it.
The thing is I’m now worried because there are a few ways of spelling it.
I don’t want my son to constantly be asked “is that with a C or a K?” When he introduces himself. [name_m]Will[/name_m] it just get to the point where he introduces himself as “[name_m]Karl[/name_m] with a K.” Or something like that.
Honestly, as a “[name_f]Karly[/name_f] with a K”, he most likely will just start introducing himself that way (when its an occasion where spelling matters) or will just say “I’m [name_m]Karl[/name_m]” and wait for someone to ask “With a C or K?”. That being said, I don’t think it’s a reason to choose a different name. Given peoples tendencies to butcher commonly spelled names with “younique” spellings we’re about one step away from everyone having to spell their name upon meeting someone new anyways.
Quite frankly, almost all names can be spelt differently. I always get asked the K or C question and it doesn’t annoy me, I immediately spell my name out for people.
